HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS Hello Everyone. Atlin RCMP would like to remind all to be on the lookout while driving on Thursday, October 31 for our local Trick or Treaters this Halloween. A few tips to ensure everyone has a safe and happy Halloween: • Carry a flashlight so you can see where you are going. Ideally, young children of any age should be accompanied by an adult. • Wear clothing with reflective markings or tape. Makeup is preferable over a mask as it is less restrictive to your sight • Make sure your costume doesn’t drag on the ground so you don’t trip. • If there is no sidewalk, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic • Visit houses on one side of the street at a time. Never walk out between cars to cross the street. • Although tampering is rare, bring the candy home to be inspected before consuming anything Drivers are reminded to slow down, turn on your lights and use caution when driving in town and especially in the local neighborhood areas that will be frequented by the children. Atlin RCMP would like to remind drivers to refrain from parking facing the wrong direction along public roadways as well as when visiting local establishments. A number of close calls involving vehicles as well as pedestrians have been brought to our attention. This parking issue will be enforced. Last but not least, a huge congratulations to our local running club, the Atlin Road Rippers, comprised of students from Atlin School, who participated earlier this month in a fall road race, The Last Gasp in Whitehorse. The Road Rippers proved that hard work pays off as the team placed first overall in four different age categories. The hard work will continue over the winter months as more events will be attended starting the following spring. Be on the lookout for fundraising events that are being planned in the community. Thank you to the Atlin School Staff, volunteers and parents for all their assistance. Great job, Atlin Road Rippers.

Music & Poetry: Jicklinghouse

Jicklinghouse is the collaboration between Yukon born-and-raised poet Peter Jickling and Whitehorse-based music trio Scott Maynard, Lonnie Powell and Sam Gallagher, known as Jennihouse. They have made waves with intricate, driving melodies and an expansive musical vision. Peter joined Jennihouse on stage, performing his no-fat poetry over their ambient rock, creating a wholly original musical and literary experience. In 2019, Toronto’s Guernica Editions published Peter’s first poetry collection "Downtown Flirt" and Jennihouse released their third full-length recording, “Bear Witness”. Together, Jicklinghouse might change your perspective on poetry…and music. Listen here: https://jennihouse.bandcamp.com Sunday November 3: Doors Open 6:30
