SEED COLLECTING + SAVING

Taking our learning to the seed level, this workshop will be an interactive seed saving opportunity with discussion about how to collect seeds for saving. Bring your questions, leave with tips, ideas, and some seeds! Workshop will be led by Backyard Gardening Maven at Labrador Farms in Wheat Ridge, Kathleen Martell.

TREE PLANTING + OVERWINTERING

Learn the appropriate techniques for replacing and siting trees, proper amendments and depth for successful planting, maintenance, and overwintering, as well as appropriate types of trees for an urban environment based on size and adaptability. Discussion around native vs. non-native trees and how trees contribute to regenerative agriculture. Learn why Wheat Ridge is a Tree City and about the City’s tree maintenance program. Workshop will be led by Jim Roemmelt, Wheat Ridge Forestry Technician and ISA Certified Arborist and Mike Orellana, Wheat Ridge Forestry Assistant.
