THE

EDITOR’S NOTE 2019

wo amazing new shows and a comedy venue from Las Vegas native Jimmy Kimmel has us looking at the show business. If there’s a city known for spectacular shows it’s Vegas, so dive into the feature It’s Showtime, to learn more about what’s new, the best of the long-running shows, the perfect revues and more. If you’re looking for excitement that doesn’t involve traversing the entire Strip, find it in One Block, where we’ve packed the top things to do, see and experience at Mirage and Treasure Island. It’s last call to catch Def Leppard’s residency at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood, which ends Sept. 7. It is also a chance to see drummer Rick Allen’s paintings of music legends (pictured: Legend Series—Jimi Hendrix), his drum series and other original work, on display at the balcony inside the venue during shows and for sale in the Zappos store. Craving more originality? Harvest Festival (harvest festival.com) ticks that box. From Sept 6-8, World Market Center will be a haven for handmade arts and crafts, complete with live music, demos, food and family-friendly vibes. NASCAR comes to town Sept. 13-15, but race weekend gathers

steam starting Sept. 12 with the inaugural Brendan Gaughan Celebrity Bowling Classic. The charity event (www.speedwaycharities. org) is open to anyone who wants to bowl and each team will have a celebrity bowler—maybe even a NASCAR driver. How’s that for show business!

“FANTASY”

Catch Donny & Marie before they wrap up their 11year run on the Las Vegas Strip in November. There’s a little bit of country from Marie Osmond, while her big brother Donny Osmond brings a little bit rock ’n’ roll to the show. The multi-talented artists team up for duets and perform separately, too, drawing from singles spanning five decades and delivering a show reminiscent of their variety act from the ’70s. Their biggest hits include “Puppy Love,” “Paper Roses” and “A Beautiful Life.” Every Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm.

The ladies of “Fantasy” know how to turn on the heat. Every one of the 14 sexy ladies fulfills a different fantasy in the show at the Luxor. Singer Lorena Peril leads the “Fantasy” cast through 15 numbers set to hot songs. Comic relief from Sean E.
