egas is much like an onion—it has many layers. And if you can look past whether or not you’re a fan of the bulb, you’ll see that Sin City’s glitzy facade is just the outer layer, with foodie destination, natural wonder, musical hub and cultural gem making up a few of the inner rings. And there’s plenty within these pages to second that. October is a month when much of the activity heads to the streets. Between food and wine fests and Halloween celebrations that fall into the family friendly and adults-only zones, it’s a great time to party. For details, check out our feature Eat, Drink and Enjoy Scary. Speaking of eating, Bazaar Meat at the recently renamed SAHARA Las Vegas brings its decadent Dessert Graffiti concept from Beverly Hills to Vegas. Every month, diners can expect gorgeously crafted—for the eyes and the taste buds—desserts around a theme that support a cause. Last month was all about bees, with desserts inspired by honey and a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Bee Informed Partnership. Staying with inspiring ideas, it’s last call to see Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi’s exhibition “Permeating Landscape” at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, which ends Oct. 27. The original staircase from Demon House—an Indiana home that was the subject of a Bagan’s documentary—now sits in the museum, as does a Volkswagen death van used by assisted suicide advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian and the propofol chair from Michael Jackson’s home.
