n Will Smith’s famous song “Miami,” dedicated to his selfproclaimed second home, the chorus states: “Party in the city where the heat is on, all night on the beach ‘til the break of dawn.” No doubt in Will’s mind he was imagining this time of year in the Magic City, as the area’s vibrant spirit carries long into the warm nights that follow beautiful, sunny summer days. With the help of a friendly Miami-area concierge, we have a few tips and recommendations for you to consider during your stay. If you would like a particular event to attend—or to be seen at—our calendar spread can guide you toward your desired destination. If the Miami heat has you beat, check out our Where Now section, where we highlight the things to do and places to go to cool down—including where the hippest pool party is located, where to get the iciest drinks and even where to undergo cryotherapy. If you want to explore a particular neighborhood, skim over to One Block, where we break down the places to eat, drink and have fun in downtown Hollywood. Need more options that cover the entire South Florida area? Our listings can guide you to the best attractions, shopping destinations, restaurants and more.

Q: WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT MIAMI? A: The weather, the

people and the cars. Who could complain about having a tropical climate all year long with mostly sunny skies, South Beach and Key Biscayne close to everything, and an abundance of outdoor activities to take part in, including running, biking, and boating? Q: WHERE ARE YOUR FAVORITE SPOTS FOR THE QUINTESSENTIAL MIAMI SELFIE? A: The popular

Wynwood Art District and Watson Island under the MaCarthur Causeway. I have taken many selfies from both locations and they are big hits on social media because of their beautiful backdrops. Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE “LIVE LIKE A LOCAL” SECRET YOU SHARE WITH YOUR GUESTS? A: Schnebly Redland’s

Winery and Brewery: As long as you are willing to make the trip south, this is a hidden gem in the Redlands, where you can participate in an amazing

a club atmosphere, you cannot go wrong if you head over to LIV in the Fontainebleau Hotel or Story on South Beach. Summertime Sensations

Summer in Miami might sound miserable to some but locals know that it’s one of the best times of year to be in the Magic City. Think: discounts at spas and hotels, breezy beach parties, no lines (and special deals) at amazing museums and frozen cocktails galore. Here’s how to beat the summer heat—and rain—in style.

POOL PARTY The Confidante’s pool and outdoor lounge area dubbed “The Backyard” (which also served as a backdrop for the “New Rules” Dua Lipa music video) recently launched a new floatie menu and custom pull-up amenity cart. The floats come in all shapes, themes and sizes but when guests purchase the rainbow cloud ($55) or flamingo cooler ($60) they come equipped with a bottle of rosé or prosecco and refreshing fruit plate. WWW.THECONFIDANTEHOTEL.COM

CULTURE VULTURE This modern art house combines art and technology to create a really cool sensory experience for museum goers. ARTECHOUSE’s main exhibition “XYZT Abstract Landscapes” features 10 interactive installations of immersive storytelling for people of all ages. Whether

you’re walking on floors that react to your footsteps or manipulating light particles within a giant digital cube, this hip spot will keep your mind (and insta feeds) busy for hours. WWW.MIAMI.ARTECHOUSE.COM

July and August in Miami play host to Miami Spa Month (yes it’s two months long!) put on by Greater Miami and the Beaches. This means that you get to take advantage of spa deals (starting at $109) all over the city, including at ESPA at Acqualina Resort, the Biltmore Hotel, Miami Beach EDITION and Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, which offers high-tech cryotherapy treatments inside one of the coldest machines in the country—reaching minus 275 F—it will invigorate your entire body. Miami’s seaside dining and imbibing institution, Monty’s has been serving up our favorite frozen concoctions since 1969. Miami Vices, Pina Coladas and Frozen Margaritas are all included on the menu, but the most traditional frozen drink around is the Rum Runner ($10). Named as a tribute to the rum runners in the days of prohibition, the drink was created at Islamorada’s Tiki Bar in the 1950s and features a delicious blend of rum, liquor and juice. Monty’s in Coconut Grove has been serving the same one since 1969, making it the O.G. of all frozen beverages. WWW.MONTYSRAWBAR.COM
