Having fun in Orlando doesn’t have to break the bank. With over 100 unique attractions, there’s something to fit any budget. Have a good time while showing your wallet some love with our list of affordable things to do in Orlando. Saving money has never been so much fun. By David Sibila

rlando is known for its marquee theme parks. And it’s certainly true that the bastions of entertainment and amusement draw millions of visitors to our area annually. But alongside Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter, Central Florida is home to a fantastic array of cultural and outdoor attractions that beckon visitors to see the broader picture. Just north of downtown, charming Winter Park is home to the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour, one of the areas oldest attractions. Relax on this one-hour narrated tour through the lakes and canals of beautiful Winter Park. Spot native wildlife, including birds and alligators, and see majestic waterfront homes along quaint canals as you learn the history of this sophisticated community, all for $14 for adults and $7 for children. In nearby Apopka, enjoy another type of water adventure in Kelly Park, as you rent a tube and float down a river naturally fed by Rock Springs. After you complete the three-quarter mile float on the swift, crystal clear creek, which takes around 25 minutes, dry out in the sun on the beach or enjoy hiking the park’s trails. One word of advice: the
park fills up quickly on the weekends, so arrive early. Admission is $3 per vehicle for one or two people and $5 per vehicle for three to eight. Further afoot, explore the natural beauty and architectural wonder of Bok Tower Gardens. This gorgeous 250-acre National Historic Landmark sits on Florida’s highest point, and features Olmsted-designed landscaped gardens crowned with a majestic bell tower that plays music by the hour. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children 5-12. Back in town, make time to explore all that International Drive has to offer, including Wonderworks.The interactive “laboratory” features 100 scientific experiences, such as hurricane and earthquake simulators, along with virtual-reality sports, an indoor ropes course and a laser-tag arena. General admission tickets are $33.99 for adults and $24.99 for children 4-12. If you’re still looking for fun, find it at the attractions of ICON Park, where you can visit SeaLife Aquarium, hobnob with the famous at Madame Tussaud’s, and ride the The Wheel, a 400-foot tall observation wheel that offers sweeping views.
LEGOLAND Florida The Awesomer Pass offers 12 months of access to both the theme park and water park, in addition to Madame Tussaud’s and SeaLife Orlando. SeaWorld Orlando Four different pass levels offer guests flexibility of pricing and benefits and include a la carte options such as animal encounters and additional guest ticket discounts. Universal Studios Orlando Guests who purchase Universal’s highest level of pass, the Premier Pass, also receive a free Halloween Horror Nights ticket for select nights. Walt Disney World Florida residents can take advantage of a special Epcot After 4 Pass, Disney’s least expensive pass option.

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Of the many unexpected pleasures awaiting visitors to Central Florida, none may be as dazzling as a stroll through the galleries of The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by American artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany. The Tiffany collection at the Morse includes the designer’s jewelry, pottery, paintings and art glass, as well as his famed leaded-glass lamps and windows. Highlights include the restored ByzantineRomanesque chapel interior that Tiffany designed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago and art and architectural objects from his celebrated Long Island estate, Laurelton Hall. The Morse was founded by Jeannette Genius McKean (1909–89) in 1942 and named for her industrialist grandfather. She and her husband, Hugh F. McKean (1908–95), the Museum’s director until his death, built the collection over a 50-year period. In 1957, when a fire ravaged Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall, the McKeans salvaged all that they could from the ruins for the Morse. In the Museum’s galleries, visitors will also find exhibits of American art pottery, Art Nouveau furnishings and objects, and late 19th- and early 20th-century American paintings.
