WHITBY COMMUNITY FRIDGE – SHARING BAGS OF CHRISTMAS CHEER!

Whitby Community Fridge is part of the Community Fridge Network in collaboration with Hubbub and The Co-op. Hubbub coordinates the world’s largest Community Fridge Network with over 250 Community Fridges running around the UK, and plenty more are setting up. They offer comprehensive free support to groups to set up their own Community Fridge, from sign up and set up through to ongoing information and events to connect and celebrate with other fridges.

A Community Fridge can be accessed by anyone and everyone who wants to share food, volunteer, or get involved with other food, environment, or related activities the group have to offer. This means we do not need referrals; you can take as much or as little food from the fridge as you like, come as often as you want as we are happy to help!

We get daily donations from the Co-op in Staithes and regular large donations from the Co-op in Whitby, as well as donations from our local SPAR stores, and from the community! Our team of

volunteers are invaluable, and we are always looking to expand so if you have some free time on weekday mornings then pop in and we would be so happy to have you.

Over the Christmas period we will have extended opening hours and on Christmas Eve we will be open for any last-minute supplies you may need. We are also providing Christmas hampers for anyone that may want one, so please do get in touch if you would be interested.

During the week our Community Fridge is open from 10-12 in the morning, however do keep an eye on our Facebook page, The People’s Fridge – Whitby Community Fridge for updates on what we have in store, any changes to opening hours, and generally to keep up with what we are doing!
