It’s hard to believe that it’s September already. The year seems to be flying by, doesn’t it? So, what is September? Many consider it as a month of fine, settled weather, an intermediary between the long days of summer and the doorway that leads to autumn. For many of us, it’s the return of busy schedules as work and school routines start again, and for others, it’s the start of new challenges – children just starting school, young adults starting college or preparing to leave for university. A time of transition and stress for both parents and kids alike! The days quickly shorten as the weeks pass, and soon have an autumnal feel about them – a nip in the air early morning and of course those nights drawing in. Leaves on trees all around us change into beautiful colours and then fall as the trees prepare for winter. Our thoughts turn to the colder months of the year... and, dare I say, Christmas?! I am sure that Whitby will remain busy over the coming months. Many will be taking autumnal breaks here, appreciating the later sunrises and early sunsets, taking in the hustle and bustle of Church Street, conquering the 199 steps to the Abbey, enjoying peaceful strolls along the beach and exploring the beautiful countryside that surrounds the town. Whitby is just as lovely in the autumn as it is in summer – some would argue that it is better! If you are a business wanting to reach out to the many folk that visit Whitby and pick up our magazine, or the thousands of residents who get a copy posted through their letterbox, we have space available in our coming issues. Just give us a call or email us, and your advert could soon be in our magazine. We can even do the artwork for you at no extra cost! Okay, that’s me done. Make it a September to remember folks!
