Bayport Legion celebrates 100th anniversary

July is... U.V. SAFETY AWARENESS MONTH

The Hesley Jensen American Legion Post 491 is celebrating it’s 100th anniversary. The newly updated Bayport American Legion Hall is located at 263 Third Street North in Bayport, Minnesota. The Bayport American Legion Post was established in 1922, named in honor of Hesley Jensen, a local man who lost his life during World War I. Today, they have members from all branches, active and reserves, who served in all major US wars from the past eighty years including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon/Grenada, Panama Invasion and the Global War on Terror including Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Bayport Legion offers 2 spacious hall rentals with on-site food options, bingo nights, Dinner on Wednesdays through Fridays, pull-tabs, a great patio and a welcoming atmosphere. They are always looking for new members to join the post, and are open to the public.

Post 491 donates hundreds of thousands of dollars from charitable gambling to local, state, and national causes. They support many local organizations which serve veterans, youth, and community improvement. Organizations which they have recently supported include, The Bayport Community Action League, The Yellow Ribbon Alliance Lower St. Croix Valley, Minnesota Disabled Veterans Campground, Stillwater Harvest Fest and Lumberjack Days, World Snow Sculpting Championship, Scout Troop 113 and Stillwater Girls Hockey among many others.
