48 max In 1961, groups of black and white activists traveled together by bus throughout the South in a concerted effort to challenge the prevailing racial segregation of that time. During their journeys, these Freedom Riders faced strong opposition and even mob violence and today are honored as heroes for their courageous efforts In this course, we will take a bus tour through four major cities associated with the civil rights movement (Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery, Jackson) Along the way we will learn about the important people, places, and events of this crucial period in modern American history We will reflect on how the lessons of the past can help us to live as “ministers of reconciliation” (2 Cor 5) in today’s broken and divided world

Spend two nights at the Foxhall Resort and one night camping at Foxhall in Douglas County, GA During our time at Foxhall, students will learn wilderness survival skills, which will be put to the test Thursday night while camping Students will learn the art of skeet/clay shooting and archery from a professional instructor. Additionally, Foxhall Resort has some fantastic lakes filled with trophy-sized bass, so we will definitely be fishing On the final day, students will take a trip to North GA to learn how to fly fish on the Soque River, which is home to some of the Southeast’s premiere trophy trout waters.

The group will travel to New York City to interact with art and culture with the intention of looking for ways the Lord uses such things to further his Kingdom We’ll visit museums, churches, food halls, and more to learn about how worship takes many different forms: art, food, purpose, and beauty.
