Why is a french loaf chewy and cornbread crumbly? How did cheese-making affect lives and cultures across Europe and the Middle East? To answer these questions, we will need to prepare some of our own delicacies while examining the chemistry (and biology) involved Materials will be provided, but you might raid your home kitchen for a few basic pieces of equipment (mixing bowl, rubber spatula, etc)

Internships

SELF-DRIVEN INTERNSHIP

Do you have a career in mind but would really like to see what it’s like firsthand? A J-Term internship is an excellent opportunity to get a glimpse of what a career in that field looks like. This course is self-driven. Students must secure their own internship opportunities The goal of the internship program for J-Term is to allow you to gain valuable experience through a job shadow or internship After the internship has been secured, students will submit a form to Whitefield with the company contact information and a brief explanation of what the internship will entail This should be a structured program that the student completes over the full week of J-term and should last from 8:00 am-3:00 pm each day Internships must be a minimum of five full days Students will be required to fill out a daily journal form online that allows them to document their time at their internship. The daily journal forms must be completed by the end of the J-term week in order to receive credit for J-term
