“The human body resonates at the same frequency as Mother Earth” (Kasem, 2022)
The human body is a fascinating being. The way our bodies work to create life is incredible. Nature and the human body operste in the same way. However this can only happen because of what lies under the skin.
This collection ‘Under the skin’ is heavily inspired by the human body and what we hide underneath our skin. From bones to veins and the contour of the body each aspect created an inspiration for the collection.Alongside the human body the link nbetween living bodies and nature greatly inspired me. The use of line and direction in this collection portrays the structure of human bones and nature. The detailing on the bodice is inspired but the line and direction of the ribcage. With the back of the jacket featuring pintuck pleats replicating the backbone of the human body. The pants highlight our cells and our way of living through the laser cut patterns. The abstract print that is shown in the jacket replicates the veins of the body creating life. This collection was also influenced by the futuric elements of the human body, looking into the technology of the body whilst delving into a dystopian future. This is highlighted through the futuristic silhouettes of each piece with the exaggerated shape of the jacket and fitted pleated bodice.
Under the skin collection is testing the norm.
