Faust
The protagonist of the German legend, is known for trading his soul with Mephistopheles, for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. Under the terms that Mephistopheles served Faust, with his demonic embrace for a set number of years, thereupon the devil would claim his soul, eternally enslaving it.
The word Faust now applies to individuals that sacrifice spiritual values for instant yet fleeting gratifications. Prevalent in today’s society, the allurement to go against the individual’s values and morals has become rudimentary, fuelled by the constant and rapid technological advances. Whether it be lust, gluttony, greed, pride, the Faust souls burgeons.
FAUST, the collection is inspired by the silhouettes and accessories of the early modern witches and the witch hunts of New England. Garments have been constructed through the draping of a mans’ shirt over the female figure. The collection imagines a witch returning from a black sabbath, satiated off the lust and pride of the yestereve, leaving in a hasted yet sublime demeanour.
FAUST is dedicated to young contemporary women who embrace feelings of ecstasy, unafraid of emanating empowerment without fear of judgment.
