The collection ‘LUCID DREAMS’ focuses on immersing the audience into a futuristic and technological experience. Greatly inspired by futuristic interiors and butterfly motifs, the garments display cut-outs and organic shapes.
Influenced by my interest in acrylic nails and designs, resin is used within the collection as an unconventional medium to replicate the enamel effect. Using resin in a pouring technique allows for an almost distorted and abstract shape of the butterfly motif. The medium can additionally be moulded and manipulated with during the curing process, resulting in it being used in accessories such as necklaces or chestplates sculting around the body.
Another resource used within the collection to create an interesting texture is bias binding. Implemented to create and highlight interesting lines, the medium adds a pop of saturated variations of the forecasted colour palette. Furthermore, it helps display a sportswear or streetwear edge to the otherwise feminine silhouettes used within the collection. Bias binding is also used to define and outline abstract shapes and cut-outs, adding a satin/shiny texture to the looks.
The unique selling point of the ‘LUCID DREAMS’ is definitely the exclusive custom print. Creating using effects and liquidifying in Photoshop, the pattern embodies an organic and futuristic appearance. When researching futuristic interiours, metallic and long dynamic lines were major features that is reflected in the custom print.
