A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR. Hi there, you may not know us yet but let me give you an insight into the publication that is ADAPT.
ADAPT was established and created in 2020, and it’s the Spring issue that’s always my favourite. The colours, the prints and the energy form a haven for creatives to churn out their most vibrant and fun work of the year. This issues ‘Runway to Room’ editorials had opposite concepts to give our readers diversity and to ensure there is a little something for everyone tastes. The ‘colour blocking’ theme is everywhere in the collections from the Spring 2021 Runway shows. From Christopher John Rogers to Miu Miu, even a neon trend appeared, who would have thought we would see that again! Check out ‘Back to the future’ on page 26 for some inspiration on how to take this runway trend into your home! If prints and European Luxury are more your thing, check out ‘Print on Print’ Staying home has become the new ‘norm’ so creating a space you truely love can on page 44. be really important for your mental health. Now to touch on news that’s not so So enjoy this issue and have some fun in fun. COVID-19. This pandemic heavily your home this Spring! influenced the title of our publication as it not only communicated the theme of its contents but it reminds us that we created this in a time where everything and everyone had to adapt to new situations and circumstances in their day to day lives.

PINK
6
The colour pink is thought to be a calming colour associated with love, kindness, and femininity. When choosing a feature colour for your home, think of the mood and feelings you want to create, if it’s kindness and love, then pink is your go to!
GREEN
Green, the colour of life, renewal, nature, and energy. It is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, safety, fertility, and the environment. So if you want to create a space that oozes life and positive energy, a green wall or sofa is one to consider!
7
YELLOW
8
Studies show that the meaning of the colour yellow can be warmth, joy, increased mental activity and increased muscle energy. The colour yellow helps activate the memory, encourage communication and build confidence. If your not only wanting to update you’re home but also yourself, then yellow can be the smart choice.
BLUE
Blue calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly. With connotations of the sky and ocean, blue is a go to for coastal homes. But don’t let that discourage you, if you live inland bring blue into your space for added life and freshness.

If you’re looking to bring some more life and colour into your home, it’s time to consider some contemporary and edgy art! An artist to watch, with new pieces at a great price is Yvonne Jane. The above piece is titled ‘Mind Blank’ and is priced at $600. Styling tips for this piece include; hanging it on a white wall to accent the red-orange and light blue. Give it space! Allow a vast amount of plain wall around the piece to give it power in the room. For a different styling approach, opt for a piece like
‘Androgynous P o r t r a i t ’ (Opposite page). This piece is priced at $550. Perfect to be placed on a blue or red feature wall. If that is a little too forward for you, try placing an artwork in an unexpected spot! Or invest in a piece so large your guests just can’t look away! When choosing a signature piece for your home, consider the colour palette and style. Yvonne Jane regularly uses primary colours in her work, so accent the piece with decor that mimics those colours. Polka Dots: Will they ever go out of style? Author, Yvonne Southern
Do you need more polka dots in your life? This article is dedicated to my favourite fashion trend, polka dots! and I am more than happy for its comeback! This print is loved by everyone! It feels like childhood and can look feminine, playful, preppy, retro, funky or classy. This print has it all. It comes in millions of sizes and colours. So, what are you waiting for? Get draped in one of these super on trend looks ASAP! Polka dots can be worn with neutral colours, with the same print, or mismatched with other patterns, such as stripes, animal print, geometric prints, the list goes on. I guarantee you’re going to love this trend, it’s so versatile. So most of you want to know which dots are going to be seen through 2021. All are in! It’s simply impossible to find the perfect polka dots that are easy to style and wear. They are all unique. So I recommend going for a cool combo that consists of luxe pieces in a retro chic and vintage style. Keep it feminine and effortless. Tiny little polka dots can make you look and feel fabulous too! These dots mostly appear on flowing fabrics of knee-length dresses, loose skirts, and blouses. As we saw in the Tory Burch and Zero+Maria Cornejo Spring 2020 collections. Make sure to team these pieces with items like classic heels, cat-eye sunglasses and trench a coat. If you are more into experimentations, then break out of the classy and vintage style by adding super rock and roll essentials and sophisticated basics. For instance, a feminine polka dot dress can be dressed up with a leather jacket, sneakers, boyfriend blazer or messy hair look. Don’t be afraid of making a statement on the streets. Go for small or big dots, neon colours, print on prints, experiment with new cuts and materials. In the new Carolina Herrera Spring 2021 Readyto-Wear collection we see an amazing black and white polka dot mini dress in a silhouette to die for. With a spiral ruffle covering the chest and neck, it’s the perfect frock for a spring racing carnival. Although the all consuming COVID-19 pandemic has put a hold on outings such as racing, it’s safe to say Polka dots are not going anywhere anytime soon!
“They feel distinctly reflective of the past, but are reappearing in modern ways” From The Zoe Report, Feb 2020.

For a classic European look, try a chandelear lamp on your wall rather than ceiling. Be sure to fit your lamp with warm yellow globes rather than cool blue tones, to create an authentic ambience.
