Exploring the concept of “Mecha” this features a huge range of robots, androids, cyborgs and space stations. “In the 1950s and reaching popularity around the world in the 1990s” (Pagan, 2019) was due to the fact that the 1990s saw a huge rise in the cyber-punk and dystopian genre, which is similar to “Mecha.”
With the genre of “Mecha” still rising in the 21st century, consumers such as young adolescents and adults are often interested to see their childhood past being incorporated in designs, specially with well designed clothing that has a great fashion aesthetic with the concept of “Mecha.” With technology evolving, NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are trending with “shoppable online art pieces based on their image.” (Frank, 2022). With 3D printing this keeps them interested with the heavy structure of accessories and the innovation to combine armor like suits to dresses.
What makes “Mecha,” Mecha is the use of different tones of neutral colours that focuses on mechanical innovative machines. With grey being a complex colour, triad colours such as the primary colours such as blue are used. Blue can represent sadness and sorrow which can reflect on the “Mecha’s” design and attitude, fulfilling a deepening understanding of youth.
