The award reflects not only the outstanding golf course and the club’s wonderful facilities but also the hospitality and flexibility offered to visiting groups and societies making Basingstoke high on the agenda of the travelling golfers in the UK. Established in December 1907, Basingstoke Golf Club’s original nine hole layout was set on land just north of Basingstoke by Charles Lloyd, the club’s first professional. In 1926, Basingstoke Golf Club’s proprietors started looking for a site to build and develop the new course which can be enjoyed today.

Basingstoke Golf Club to relocate in 2020 With Basingstoke Council committed to achieving its house building targets, our course has been designated into the local development plan and we are currently in negotiations with a national house-builder who wants to purchase our property. Our intention is to sell and then relocate to another site in Basingstoke. We could be closing Kempshott Park during 2020/21 so golfers will have a limited time to play our stunning, award winning James Braid designed course before we close and relocate!
Relax in comfortable surroundings The current Basingstoke clubhouse was opened in 1998 by ex-Ryder Cup player, John Jacobs. Built on one level, the clubhouse building is accessible by all and provides wonderful views of the golf course from the patio – ideal for al fresco eating and drinking during the warmer months. The spacious bar and lounge is the ideal place to relax and unwind pre or post round with excellent bar and catering options available throughout the week. Three separate areas for dining, celebration and corporate hire can be joined to open up the whole clubhouse to accommodate up to 200 people in open plan surroundings. As a testimony to the wonderful facilities of the awardwinning Basingstoke Golf Club and the excellent service that is shown to all visitors, the golf club has become a popular wedding venue for couples looking to tie the knot in Hampshire. The Basingstoke clubhouse is also home to the superb on-course professional shop. Part of the Foremost buying group, the shop stocks the latest clothing, equipment and accessories from some of the game’s leading manufacturers. Led by Head PGA Professional, Carl Crown, Basingstoke Golf Club’s team of professionals are always on hand to offer their advice and expert tuition and are knowledgeable in the golf swing as well as the latest trends out on the fairways!

Legendary golf course architect, James Braid designed the current course on land at Kempshott Park in 106 acres of wonderful parkland in the heart of the Hampshire countryside. Today, the par 70 golf course measures 6,076 yards from the championship, white tees and provides a true test of golfing pedigree for even the most accomplished of golfers. A great society course, Basingstoke Golf Club runs a full and varied members programme of events and competitions as well as a series of Open competitions each year.
