The Directors and Senior Management of Your Golfer Magazine are delighted to introduce their Suffolk Golf Club of the Year for 2018 as Haverhill Golf Club. The award reflects the outstanding golf course as well as the evolution of Haverhill Golf Club as one of the most popular golfing destination in Suffolk since it was developed in the 60s.

Situated 20 miles east of Cambridge and within easy access from the country’s motorway networks, Haverhill Golf Club dates back to the 1960s when the idea of the golf club was born. Major developments took place in the 90s when the clubhouse building was added to the site as well as the planned extension of the popular nine hole golf course to the eighteen unique holes that can be enjoyed today.

Haverhill Golf Club’s clubhouse also houses a wonderful professional shop which stocks the latest in clothing, equipment and accessories from the game’s leading brands. The professional team carry out repairs, club fitting and a full coaching programme led by Head PGA Professional, Paul Wilby who has been the resident professional at Haverhill Golf Club since 2008.
Since this time, the now award-winning golf club has become a popular venue for visiting clubs and societies who can be assured of a friendly welcome at Haverhill Golf Club while enjoying a challenging round of golf on one of Suffolk’s most memorable courses. Stretching across two valleys, Haverhill is an attractive parkland golf course set on the SuffolkEssex border bisected by the River Stour. With many strategically placed ponds, bunkers calling for excellent course management skills and accuracy from the tees, the course is fairly tree-lined also with no less than 7,000 trees planted during course improvement work in 2007.

Today, the par 70 Haverhill golf course measure 5,774 from the championship tees and offers a stern but fair test to even the most accomplished of golfer. The club is also home to two enticing practice areas to get you ready to take on the main course with a putting green and chipping area as well as a compact short game area with undulations, a deep practice bunker playing up to a sloping green. 2007 was a busy year, it also saw the extension of the clubhouse and the addition of the spacious stud bar. The relaxing, welcoming atmosphere of the club’s well-appointed clubhouse offers the ideal space to unwind after a round of golf and provides an truly relaxing environment to enjoy a drink or bite to eat with friends of family. Haverhill’s clubhouse has a warm, welcoming atmosphere for members, visitors and golfing groups. Why not enjoy a drink, lunch or a fantastic Sunday carvery with friends and family. The spacious bar and patio area boast beautiful views across the practice green and tree-lined 1st fairway – the perfect spot to relax in the summer months.
Whilst, the well-appointed Lounge Bar and Stud Bars are well-stocked and offer a reasonably price place to relax pre or post round. Hot and cold food is served seven days a week with catering including breakfast, lunches, dinners and more formal dining occasions through varied menus which change daily.
