The Costa Blanca which is affectionately known as the ‘White Coast’ is one of Spain’s most popular tourist destinations. Stretching 200 kilometres along the Mediterranean coast, the destinations of Costa Blanca are varied and diverse ranging from bustling cosmopolitan resorts to rural areas by the sea. The Costa Blanca region was strategically important for many settlers including the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. The influence of Moorish and Roman occupations are present in the villages, monuments and cultural attractions of today’s Costa Blanca. The Orihuela Costa area, in southern Costa Blanca, stretches more than 20km from Orihuela to the coast. A restful and quiet location where you can relax (when not playing golf) and enjoy the natural surroundings. In Orihuela there are lots of architectural sights to visit, including the Palace of Rubaclava, a 14th century gothic cathedral, the baroque church of Santa Domingo and an arabic castle. Las Colinas Club de Golf and Country Club is situated about 10km from the coastal town of Pilar de la Horadada and the urbanisations of Mil Palmeras, Torre de la Horadada and Campoamor. To the South you have San Pedro del Pinatar, in the province of Murcia, and a 30 minute drive inland will take you into the City of Murcia, itself. The local cuisine is typically Mediterranean and most of the fruit, vegetables and salad ingredients are grown locally in the farms and cooperatives in the surrounding area. Likewise, there is plenty of fresh fish and seafood supplied by the fishing fleets from San Pedro and Torrevieja. The Mediterranean diet is highly recommended by European food and health experts, but for a change, the Sushi Bar in the Club House might make a welcome alternative.

Las Colinas Golf and Country club is quite secluded and is in fact completely on its own in the middle of a forest and is situated in between Mil Palmeras and Orihuela and is about 10 kilometres inland from the coast, However you can get views of the coast from the highest points of the course. The 18 hole championship golf course at Las Colinas is ranked number 55 in the Continental Europe Top 100 and is managed by global leader, Troon Golf. The golf course extends across a valley between the hills of Campoamor and blends naturally into the landscape with wide fairways and undulating greens which offer an enjoyable yet challenging round of golf to players of all levels of ability. Las Colinas has hosted many prestigious amateur and professional tournaments since it was founded. The par 71 course comprises an eclectic blend of tree-lined fairways, plenty of bunkers and water hazards which come into play on several holes. The new short game facility at Las Colinas was designed by 21-time European Tour winner, Miguel Angel Jimenez. Located just over one hundred metres from the superbly-appointed driving range, the practice facility occupies over 5,000 sq metres with a 680 sq metre putting green complete with contours and undulations similar to those found on the main course. The practice area also has two bunkers allowing golfers to practice their short game repertoire from distances of up to 65 metres. Las Colinas Golf & Country Club also features a whole host of fantastic sporting and leisure amenities within the beauty of its natural surroundings. The perfect place to celebrate all manner of events ranging from corporate events to family or group gatherings, the facilities of Las Colinas have been specifically designed to provide unforgettable experiences on and off the golf course. The clubhouse is a whitewashed Mediterraneanstyle building at the heart of Las Colinas Golf & Country Club. Overlooking the lake which protects the 18th green, the clubhouse features a large terrace which opens up onto the golf course.
Decoration comes courtesy of leading Spanish interior designer, Pepe Leal whilst the clubhouse building is also the home to the UNiK CafĂŠ restaurant accessed through an attractive courtyard.
The fabulous modern UNiK Café restaurant has a great international menu, with fresh ingredients – something for all palates. The elegant setting creates a very relaxed atmosphere, and with views over the lake on the 18th hole it is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in UNiK; everything from tapas, to sandwiches and seafood cuisine. There is also capacity for special celebrations, with a private lounge that can seat up to 30 people. The Glass Bar is the perfect place for a cocktail or a beer after a day on the golf course. The openplan seating allows visitors to take in the lovely Mediterranean climate and unwind as the sun sets. Along with a great golf course, there are other activities at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, including a fully-equipped gym, tennis courts and a private beach club with an infinity pool. There is also a separate children’s pool for families.

Lo Romero Golf opened in 2008, is commonly referred to as ‘The Golf Island’ and is set in Pilar de la Horadada in the Spanish Province of Alicante Spain has been a favourite golfing destination for many years with nearly four hundred golf courses to choose from.
