Welcome to the Your Golfer Winter 2022 Edition
Welcome to the Winter 2022 edition of Your Golfer Magazine.
With the winter months now upon us and golfers going through the tough winter months, it is no surprise that a lot of the societies we speak to are now looking to book their Spring/Summer tours for next year.
Within this edition you will not only find the normal vast array of courses across the UK, but also news on clubs that have excelled during the last twelve months. Brocket Hall for instance has gone from strength to strength (see pages 10&11). St Enodoc GC in North Cornwall have been awarded GEO certification (see pages 8&9). These are just two of the examples of the exciting news for the golf industry contained in this edition.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers advertisers and contributors a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Blackmoor Golf Club Raises Over £11,000 for Myeloma UK
Blackmoor Golf Club has raised more than £11,000 for Myeloma UK a charity which funds the research and support services for people with a type of bone marrow blood cancer.
The donation was raised by the Captains’ Charity and members of the golf club and presented to Emily Legg, Director of Fundraising at Myeloma UK, on Saturday 15th October at the Captain’s rive-in, a ceremonial held to mark the outgoing of the current Captains and incoming of the new club officers.
Despite being the third most common type of blood cancer, myeloma is especially difficult to detect and currently affects over 24,000 people in the UK. The elected 2022 captains chose Myeloma UK as the collective Club Charity as the disease is particularly meaningful to 2022 Ladies Captain, Vi icketts, whose daughter was diagnosed with myeloma.
Over the course of the past twelve months the captains have been busy organising various fundraising activities and events aimed at encouraging donations from club members and the final amount presented to Myeloma UK by Blackmoor Golf Club was £11,235.
Speaking on the fundraising efforts 2022 Ladies Captain Vi Ricketts said: “It has been a pleasure to be able to support Myeloma UK, a charity which is very close to my heart. While myeloma is incurable, it is treatable in most cases, and I hope the donation will go towards controlling the disease and improving patients’ quality of life.”
Vi continued: “To help raise funds we have organised plenty of fun activities for our members, including captain’s raffles, coffee mornings, cake baking and enjoyable golf days and I’m sure that both the Club Immediate Past Captain, Kevin Quinn and Club Immediate Past Seniors Captain, Nigel Barrow share my sentiments in thanking our wonderful club members for their generosity and enthusiasm throughout the year.”
Emily Legg from Myeloma UK, was presented with a cheque for the sum of £11,235 by 2022 Ladies’ Captain, Vi Ricketts, Immediate Past Captain, Kevin Quinn and Club immediate Past Seniors Captain, Nigel Barrow at the Captain’s Drive-in.
Speaking on the day, Emily said: “We can’t thank Blackmoor Golf Club enough for their generosity and support. We receive no core government funding for the work that we do so voluntary donations and fundraising are the lifeblood of Myeloma UK. It’s thanks to support like this from Blackmoor Golf Club that Myeloma UK can continue to fund vital research into new treatments, and ultimately a cure, as well as essential support services for patients, their families, and those affected by myeloma.”
Following the AGM of Blackmoor Golf Club the previous evening, the Captain’s Drive-in ceremony welcomed the newly elected club officers. The 2023 Club Captain, Bill Stiles drove off the first tee with a 200-yard drive straight up the middle of the fairway, a distance correctly guessed by Ed Ricketts in the Drive-in sweep, which raised money for the Macular Society the newly appointed club charity. Macular Society is the UK charity for anyone affected by macular degeneration and central vision loss.
Bill Stiles was preceded by Graeme Roberts, the newly elected 2023 Seniors’ Captain, and Fran Berriman, the newly elected 2023 Ladies’ Captain.
KAI FOSTER ADDED TO STELLAR SALES TEAM AT CRANLEIGH
Cranleigh Golf & Country Club has bolstered its senior management team with the addition of Kai Foster as new sales manager.
Foster arrives at the Surrey venue with a proven track record after a successful twoyear spell with Village Hotels in Basingstoke where, as leisure sales manager, he was instrumental in navigating the difficult postCovid 19 lockdown period and achieving rapid growth in the face of heavy adversity caused by the pandemic to the hospitality sector.
Among his new responsibilities at Cranleigh, the Manchester Metropolitan University graduate will head up the sales team to consistently hit monthly revenue targets. He will also facilitate member retention by maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction whilst elevating the brand’s profile in the local community to attract new members, co-operating closely with the existing management team.
Foster said: “In the few weeks that I’ve been here, the team and members have been fantastic in making me feel welcome and I can’t wait to meet even more people around the club.
“I’m looking forward to working closer with Alex and the team to spread the word about the club locally and continue to be a big part of the community.”
Alex Milne, deputy general manager at Cranleigh Golf & Country Club, said: “We pride ourselves on appointing people who are capable, dedicated and love what they do, and we believe Kai ticks every box.
“He’s wasted no time in settling in and is already proving a valuable addition to the team. It’s vital to us that all of our staff are personable and approachable for our members and Kai fits perfectly into that philosophy”.
Nestled amongst the tranquil Surrey countryside, Cranleigh Golf & Country Club is synonymous with its picturesque 18-hole golf course, which winds through 5,644 yards of stunning scenery. Accompanying the course are excellent training facilities and a driving range to complete the golfing experience.

Morpeth duo claim SkyCaddie Pro-Captain title in Italy
A knee-knocking four-footer sealed victory for Morpeth Golf Club’s David Clark and Steve Redpath at PGA National Italy last week, in the 2022 SkyCaddie PGA ProCaptain Challenge Grand Final.
And it was “very, very nervous” 12-handicapper Redpath, Captain at Morpeth GC, who faced the dreaded putt, after he and Clark had turned their week around in stunning fashion with a final-day comeback and a four-way playoff for the SkyCaddie trophy.
“We were dead last overnight, so we just kept two balls in play as much as possible, and went for everything on the greens” said David Clark, PGA Head Professional at Morpeth. “Luckily our putters got hot, we made the playoff and Steve kept his nerve to hole the winner!”
The Northumberland duo were the ultimate victors in this season’s well-supported SkyCaddie Pro-Captain event, after ten Qualifiers across the UK saw over 500 golfers compete for just 20 places in the Italy final.
“SkyCaddies have come on leaps and bounds in the last few years” said Clark. “I used mine on all three days of the Final, and never took my laser out of the bag once. Knowing the runouts and carries off every tee is massively useful. I loved the preloaded pins too – very impressive!”
Hi partner, Steve Redpath, had never used a SkyCaddie before this year’s tournament. “It’s a brilliant bit of kit” he said. “You could see the screen even in bright sunshine, and I will definitely be getting one to use from now on!”
The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge is one of the UK’s most popular national pro-am tournaments, and will celebrate its 30th year in 2023.
Golf GPS specialist SkyCaddie has been the event’s headline sponsor since 2017. James Holmes, SkyCaddie’s General Manager UK & Europe, said: “The Pro-Captain is the ideal event for us, in that it rewards good coursemanagement and teamwork between a PGA Pro and his amateur partner – something for which SkyCaddie GPS devices are wellsuited.
“Over 250 PGA pros and their partners used the latest SkyCaddies in this year’s event. We love to put them into people’s hands –generally they are amazed by how much more a SkyCaddie does for you than a laser and yardage book.”
The 2022 SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge was supported by Asbri Golf and Prostate Cancer UK. The tournament is a fourball Stableford team competition open to all golf clubs affiliated to their national golf union.
This year’s Final was held at PGA National Italy – Argentario Golf Resort in Tuscancy, with a total prize fund of £22,000.

Cornwall’s St Enodoc Awarded GEO Certification
October 2022, Cornwall, UK: St Enodoc Golf Club in North Cornwall has been awarded the prestigious and internationally-recognised GEO Certification in acknowledgement of a number of years of work in meeting the rigorous requirements set out in the GEO standard.
The club is delighted that this global accolade recognises the outstanding work that took root over 10 years ago by the course management team and clubhouse staff. Indeed this certification is just part of an ongoing commitment by St Enodoc that continually strives for excellence in sustainable golf.
“The verification process confirms that St Enodoc Golf Club satisfies all the GEO Certification criteria. The comprehensive GEO On Course report provides solid evidence of the continued commitment by the Club to maintain wider sustainability issues, proving we are meeting the stringent certification standard. St Enodoc is rightly proud to have the GEO verification and is delighted that this national accolade recognises in particular the outstanding work of the Course Manager, Scott Gibson, and all his green-keeping staff in terms of ecology and environment,” comments General Manager, Simon Greatorex.
In terms of nature, the club has taken its role as custodian of the land on which the course lies very seriously and is committed to fostering nature. This is clearly demonstrated, for example, by the work carried out over the last decade with Natural England and the club’s implementation of a Countryside Enhancement Scheme (CES) for a Rock Dune Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Separately, the Club is also investing in a range of measures to protect and restore the sand dunes which have become subject to erosion, aiming to retain and extend this Priority Habitat.
Protection and restoration of sand dunes at St Enodoc
Most recently, work has focused on the treatment of invasive species including three species of cotoneaster which were colonising and reducing the value of areas of sand dune, the creation dune hollows, ongoing management of previouslycleared scrub and the establishment of a strong population of Babington's Leek.
The club also works closely with Buglife, an organisation dedicated to creating 20 hectares of flower-rich habitat along the North Cornwall coast to help a variety of threatened bee species. St Enodoc has a number of areas of rough around the course that are key sites for the threatened Large Scabious Mining Bee so, as part of the Buglife plan, the greenkeeping staff have made a considerable effort to manage this habitat to ensure it is rich in Field Scabious which these bees feed on and so to help to protect them.
Large Scabious Mining Bee that St Enodoc is helping to protect
Conserving resources such as water and energy is also important to the club, which believes in a wider responsibility to ensure it is using as little as possible and to try to be self-sufficient. A recent example of this is the upgrade of sprinkler heads to adjustable/part arc array which has made a substantial saving in water usage on the fairways. Moreover over the last four years, a programme of overseeding the greens with Fescue grass in order to change their profile and make them more drought tolerant, as well as requiring less fertilisation, has been implemented.
Similarly the north Cornish club takes its environmental impact very seriously and has taken several measures to reduce its carbon footprint in and around the course whilst at the same time reducing its use of fossil fuels through the investment of further solar technology to increase its renewable energy capacity and a machinery and buggy plan to replace petrol and diesel vehicles with modern hybrid/electric options.
In order to become better neighbours, the club has created events that encourage members of the local community to interact with the club and course. This is evidenced by hosting habitat walks with local environmental experts and supporting local businesses and clubs with their activities.
“St Enodoc Golf Club shows substantial management commitment, plans, surveys and practices for more responsible and sustainable golf. Highlights include the conservation of bees, Daymer Bay dunes S.S.S.I. conservation and detailed digital habitat maps to inform, plan and manage a variety of habitats,” notes Dino Minoli, GEO accredited independent verifier.
“Other sustainable practices include LED installations and energy-efficient appliances, solar panels, natural lighting, branded reusable water bottles, water drinking stations, sustainable procurement and catering, no single use plastic, material recycling, safeguarding policies, charitable support and community volunteering.”
GEO Certification is assured by GEO Foundation, the not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering programmes that help people on the ground to evaluate, improve and credibly communicate their sustainability work across the agenda of nature, resources, community and climate action.
GEO Certified is the symbol of a great golf environment, confirming that St Enodoc Golf Club satisfies all GEO certification criteria; meeting a credible standard in the areas of nature, resources and community, and is committed to continual improvement. The comprehensive Certification Report provides a detailed account of the continued commitment made to maintain wider sustainability issues.

Brocket Hall in Best Financial Best Shape for over a Decade
October 2022, Welwyn, Herts: After a period of ups and downs, England’s Brocket Hall is now in the best financial shape for over a decade thanks to a strong membership base and unprecedented demand for society and corporate days at the venue over the last 18 months.
The health of the Hertfordshire golf club’s finances has also been boosted by a surge in demand for overnight stay and play packages at the former stately home which are increasingly popular with couples and small groups.
“It is a massive achievement for Brocket Hall to be in a position of such financial stability given a few turbulent years over the last 10 years or so,” comments Michael Longshaw, Managing Director at Brocket Hall.
“Moreover the estate is now in a position where it can look to the future with positivity and to consolidate our reputation as the home of two of England’s most picturesque golf courses set against the backdrop of one of the country’s finest stately homes.”
Opened in 1992, the club offers two of England’s most picturesque courses: the Melbourne Course designed by former Ryder Cup golfers Clive Clark and Peter Alliss and the more technicallydemanding Palmerston Course created by Donald Steel and adapted by Martin Ebert.
With its stunning views over the property’s glorious stately home and lake which is straddled by a magnificent bridge, the Melbourne guarantees visitors a highlyenjoyable and memorable day out whilst the Palmerston suits competent golfers looking for a strategic, challenging round of golf.
Indeed the future looks very bright for the Hertfordshire golf club which now boasts a membership of over 1,000 golfers – its largest since 2002 – which, thanks to its easy access from London and the south east, continues to grow on a month by month basis.
The stunning Palmerston Course at Brocket HallThe picturesque Melbourne Course at Brocket Hall
Such is the rise in popularity of the club that, from September 1st, an increased joining fee of £6,200 was introduced though this still compares favourably with similar golf properties in the vicinity.
The golf club is also in a massively advantageous position to other Hertfordshire courses as its two courses are generally open 365 days per year.
“I recall we have only had one or two days of closure in the last few years and last autumn we invested a lot in drainage work to ensure that muddy days on the golf course are a thing of the past here at Brocket Hall, especially in January and February when many courses are forced to shut for at least a few days,” explains Longshaw.
The profile of Brocket Hall was recently given a huge boost when it hosted a brand new event, the Rose Ladies Open supported by Justin and Kate Rose, on the LET Access Series (LETAS) over the Melbourne Course in late September (23 to 25). That Brocket Hall was selected to host this inaugural tournament is testament to the quality of the Melbourne Course.
Won by Sweden’s My Leander, the event was extremely well received and benefited from TV coverage that was beamed all over Europe. The club is confident that the increase in awareness that it received by supporting the LET Access Series event will attract even more members, particularly in the female section which it is keen to see expand.
TRILBY TOUR SIGNS OFF ON SUCCESSFUL SEASON WITH MEMORABLE GRAND FINAL
The Trilby Tour’s long-awaited comeback season culminated in a dramatic finale at Dundonald Links in Scotland on Monday, crowning a successful return for the iconic competition.
In its first season under the ownership of Darwin Escapes, the 2022 edition of the Trilby Tour saw both male and female golfers compete together in the Grand Final at the prestigious Ayrshire venue. Competitors from across the country battled it out in tough conditions on the par 72 course; eventual Champion Golfer Andrew Corssen, from Northshore, needed a stunning three-underpar score of 39 points to top a high-quality field. Wendy Allen earned the highest ladies’ score of the final with a 31-point total.
The Grand Final highlighted the ways Darwin Escapes has revitalised the muchloved Trilby Tour since acquiring it in 2021. Men and women competed together for the first time in the competition’s 15-year history, with TV cameras on hand to cover the action for broadcast on Sky Sports Golf, hosted by presenter Sarah Stirk, from November 14.
Serving as the climax of an action-packed tour schedule, the final featured amateur golfers from all four summer qualifying Championships: the Championship of Oxfordshire at The Springs Resort & Golf Club; the Championship of Ayrshire at Dundonald Links; the Championship of Yorkshire at Kilnwick Percy Resort & Golf Club; and the Championship of Cumbria at Carus Green Golf Club.
Ashley Pheasant, Head of Golf for Darwin Escapes, said: “We’ve worked hard to bring this much-loved competition back and make it better than ever, so we’re thrilled with how the Trilby Tour’s first revitalised season has unfolded.
“The weather was challenging on Monday, but Dundonald Links plays perfectly in any conditions and the quality of golf was excellent too. It’s also great to see male and female golfers competing together in the Trilby Tour for the first time.”
Sarah Stirk, who covered the event for Sky Sports Golf, said: “The whole Trilby Tour has really been elevated in 2022 and it was fantastic to see the culmination of a great year at the final at Dundonald Links.”
“There was a real sense of camaraderie between all competitors, and it was brilliant to see female golfers competing alongside the men. To learn more about this iconic competition
“I’ve been lucky to interview the world’s top golfers over the last few years with Sky, but it was very special to speak to the winner Andrew Corssen about his victory and see him get so emotional. It was a special day in Scotland and I can’t wait to watch the Trilby Tour grow even further in 2023.”
Corssen, the first Trilby Tour Champion Golfer of the Darwin Escapes era, said: “It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, because we were the first group out. I’ve been patiently waiting and now I’m just overwhelmed.”
Dundonald Links, host venue of the 2022 Trilby Tour Grand Final, has earned a reputation as an elite golf course and was ranked in the top 10 of Leading Courses’ Best Golf Resorts in Europe 2022. Following extensive renovations, the revamped resort has become even more enticing to golfers with the addition of world-class accommodation and a new, modern clubhouse.
The Trilby Tour will return in 2023, with an extended schedule and dates to be announced in December. In addition to the Trilby Tour trophy and an array of exceptional golfing equipment, Corssen has won the right to return for the 2023 Grand Final and defend his crown without needing to play any qualifying events.
GOLFER BEATS HIS AGE AND ODDS OF ONE IN NINE MILLION AT OXFORD GOLF COURSE
Mr Hoult, aged 72, completed the historic course in 71 shots, to beat his age.
Beating your age in golf is said to be the toughest challenge in the sport with less than 1% of golfers achieving it in their lifetime – which is said to equal a one in nine million chance.
But retired hairdresser Mr Hoult sensationally pulled it off at Oxford Golf Club earlier this month with a remarkable round on the 18-hole course.
He shot one over par at the course based on Hilltop Road, Oxford, and got the drinks in for fellow members at the clubhouse to celebrate.
“It’s better than a hole-in-one,” said Mr Hoult, of Oxford.
“I was excited as it’s a hard thing to achieve in golf and you have to be a certain age to do it.
“The day before I had the chance to par the course and beat my age, but I dropped points on the 18th. It was so close and to manage it in my next round in bad weather was brilliant.
“It’s a special score and things like this don’t come around often in golf. One of my two golf partners on the day said ‘mate do you know what you’ve just done?’ I said ‘oh wow! Let’s go and ring the bell!’. It was a day I won’t forget, everything just clicked.”
“It’s a classic course and it’s always had good greens,” he said. “I love golf and it’s great for exercise.
“Now I’m retired I can play more regularly. I did have a handicap of five and when I retired, I thought it would get better with more practice. But it got worse and went up to between six and nine.
“My handicap index when I played the round was 6.6 which means my course handicap was 7. My car number plate is ‘G5 HCP’ I thought the G was for Graham, but everyone at the club said it was golf and 5 was my handicap at the time, so it stuck. So, when my handicap got worse everyone joked, I’d need a new number plate. Finally, I’ve got it back to a five.”
Steve Greenwood, Oxford Golf Club General Manger said: “This is one of the finest achievements in golf and Graham has rightly been the talk of the club. It’s something golfers dream of and we’re all thrilled for Graham.”
Founded in 1873 Oxford Golf Club was the original club of Oxford University and to this day features an 18-hole course designed by legendary golf architect Harry Colt.
Further information about the club is available via Home - Oxford Golf Club.
Amateur golfer Graham Hoult beat his age at Oxford Golf Club to achieve one of the sport’s rarest feats. Mr Hoult has been a member of Oxford Golf Club since 1976.Entries Are Open For 2023 Berkhamsted Trophy

The Berkhamsted Trophy successfully transitioned to a gender-neutral format in April 2022, with both male and female competitors in the 108-strong field taking on Berkhamsted’s classic heathland-style, bunker-free golf course – rated among the top 100 in England.
“Over six decades the Berkhamsted Trophy has been one of the mainstays of men’s amateur golf –and we also hope to occupy that same position in the women’s game in the years to come” said Club Manager Howard Craft. “We traditionally kick off the main domestic golf tournament season here in the UK, and entries are always of the highest calibre.”
Big-hitting 18-year old Seb Cave from Coxmoor won the 61st Berkhamsted Trophy earlier this year, shooting five under to win by three shots from Essex teenager Harley Smith. “I’ll be at Berkhamsted in March to defend my title, subject to England commitments” he said. “I also expect several of the England Boys team to be there, to take on the rest of the country’s best amateur golfers.
“We have warm weather events and training in Spain and Portugal during February and March, so the Berkhamsted Trophy is a very useful earlyseason 72-hole workout for your whole game.
“It gets you in the zone for the domestic season in GB and Ireland!”
Nigel Edwards, England Golf Performance Director and Team GB Golf leader in the 2020 Olympics, said: “As the country’s governing body for male and female amateur golfers, at England Golf we applaud Berkhamsted Golf Club’s initiative in making the Berkhamsted Trophy a mixed-gender event.”
Howard Craft continued: “Many Major champions and Ryder Cup superstars cut their teeth by playing in the Berkhamsted Trophy, but even though both golf equipment and player fitness are on a whole new level these days, our golf course – though relatively short – always sets the field a touch challenge.
“Berkhamsted’s legendary natural defences mean that only the very best can hope to win here!”

THE MANOR HOUSE GOLF CLUB PLANS FOR THE FUTURE WITH COURSE UPGRADE
Members and guests can look forward to an enhanced golfing experience at The Manor House Golf Club in 2023 with the acclaimed Wiltshire venue making a number of upgrades to its championship course this winter.
Already renowned for its quality and outstanding year-round condition thanks to the exceptional drainage of the par-72 layout, officials at the club have announced a further period of course investment, with a major sustainable bunker renovation project among the improvements being made.
Greener by design, The Manor House is introducing BunkerMat technology on the majority of its 80 bunkers to improve sand retention on the steep slopes. The open structure of the BunkerMat fibres allows the sand to be held, and the technique has been introduced on several championship courses worldwide.
Work has already begun on holes on the front nine of the course – which was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark – with plans to continue the work on the back nine at the 6,500-yard parkland course heading into the new year.
The Manor House’s greenkeeping team has also recently completed a project to help prevent erosion on the bank of the greenside lake of the second hole. Repurposing rock originally removed from the ground to create the course irrigation lake, the bank has been reinforced and given a stunning finish to ensure the part of the course is in play for years to come.
The course improvement plan continues a year of investment at the venue and a continued push towards being as carbon friendly as possible, including the installation of 160 solar panels on the greenkeepers’ equipment store and clubhouse to help power a new fleet of 50 state-of-the-art buggies. A new Gambetti sprayer has also been purchased by the club for turf care purposes.
Golf club manager, Andrew Ryan, said: “It’s an exciting time here at The Manor House Golf Club as we head into the winter. Following investment in the new buggies and the solar panels, we are turning our attention to ensuring the course is in great shape for the coming months.
“The team have worked incredibly hard on the projects we have started in recent months, including the bunker improvement and stunning repair work to the second greenside bank.
“Our parkland course offers a brilliant challenge for golfers of all abilities and the work we are doing will only make the course better to play and experience.”
Located in Castle Combe, named the prettiest village in the UK last year by FBM Holidays, The Manor House has long possessed a strong local membership while also being a popular golfing stay and play destination.
The club is now taking bookings for golf breaks this winter. Packages start from £140 per person and include bed and breakfast in a standard room, a £35 per person allocation to use towards dinner, use of the driving range and 18 or 36 holes of golf.

The Annual Citizen Golf Society Event
The annual Citizen Golf Society event has taken place on 28 October with £700 being donated to Coventry baby hospice charity, Zoe’s Place.
The society meet up to five times a year and those who take part in the final day event donate money. The money is then given to charity or a chosen beneficiary.
The team decided to donate to Zoe’s Place because they have a number of staff who have had involvement with them in different capacities and find it incredible how much support they provide to those who need it at the most difficult of times.
This year’s tournament took place at West Midlands Golf Club and Kevin Rodgers the CEO of Citizen was named as golfer of the year.
The morning team event was won by Scott Fincham (Maintenance Operations) with Gary Shenton and Jon Sparrow ( both Painters/Decorators) with nine holes scored at five under par. However, Scott, Gary, and Jon claimed the prize ahead of another group with the same score thanks to their scoring handicap.
The afternoon event of 18 holes produced some close scoring too, with three players all coming home with 41 points. Kevin Rodgers CEO emerged as the overall winner with Carpenter Paul Ennis finishing second and Head of ICT Projects Neil Crew taking third place.
Senior Project Manager Ian Callaghan who helps organise the golf society events said “it’s great that the golf society are helping people in the community”. He said: “We are so pleased to be donating £700 to Zoe’s Place and we hope that they find it helpful. They do wonderful work, and this donation will help them to continue to provide a really important service”.
For those of you who will not know Zoe’s Place offer a short break service, palliative and end-of-life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and require different levels of 24-hour support.
This year’s event was once again sponsored by one of Citizens contractors - Jacksons Lifts, and the prize fund was supported by another of their contractors ROC, and they would like to thank them both for their contribution.
Citizen are looking forward to next year’s fixtures and would like to take the opportunity to wish all readers of Your Golfer Magazine the season greetings.

The region’s number-one ranked golf course and a regular feature in the Top 100, Silloth on Solway Golf Club is home to what is highly-regarded as one of England’s finest links courses.
Founded in 1892 with the help of Railway Company money, the Silloth course was originally designed by Davy Grant and has since evolved, with contributions from classic golf course architects, Dr Alister Mackenzie and Willie Park Jnr.
Located in one of the most pictuesque areas of England in the Cumbrian countryside and at the mouth of the Solway firth, Silloth’s fairways meander through the mature dune flora reminiscent of true links-style golf courses with tough, true greens providing a true test of links golf.
With spectacular views across the firth, overlooking the Scottish Borders and Lake District, the blooming heather and patches of gorse that is in abundance make Silloth’s rolling fairways a safe haven. Add in the wind factor and you’ll rarely play to handicap. Even in the calm, Silloth is a tricky links course offering one of the most unique challenges in English golf.
Silloth on Solway Golf Club represents excellent value for money. In 2016, National Club Golfer magazine voted it the ‘No 1 Course in Britain and Ireland under £100’.
The clubhouse at Silloth was designed by Carlisle architect and club member, Walter Gibbings in 1903 was extended in 1908.
