Montessori Activity Books Text by Chiara Piroddi - Illustrations by Agnese Baruzzi

My First Book of Animals ISBN 978-88-544-1235-4

4+

The series “Montessori, a world of achievements” is a collection of texts for children that contains playing activities aimed at encouraging the development of the main cognitive skills, such as the recognition of numbers, shapes, colors, animals etc. They are designed and built according to the specific educational and pedagogical approach of the Montessori Method. The structure of the activities suggested in the texts develops around some fundamental Montessori principles: - the content of the games follows a progressive complexity, to allow the child to become gradually familiar with it; - each activity has 3 progressive stages of learning: 1. presentation of the material through senses, 2. recognition of the learning object material, 3. reenactment of the material. In each activity the child can directly control his mistakes, so that he can realize by himself the accuracy of his work; the adult has a role of assistance and introduction to the various activities but the child can play independently the games. Handling and practical experience have a central role: often is required you to glue stickers, cut, draw and finger paint. In the series of activity books, three new amazing titles about animals and different environments: the wood, the farm and the garden. 40 + 8 stickers pages 216 x 272 mm - softcover

Modern and innovative style of the maps and illustrations.

100% Full-Size Bugs UPCOMING TITLE

Illustrations by Isabella Grott, text by Valter Fogato Scientists have discovered more than a million different species of insects that every day, in every part of the world, live their very diverse lives. Many fly, others walk or bore through wood. Some are pleasing to the eye, like butterflies; others, like cockroaches, a bit less. For the most part, insects are small – sometimes so small that you need a magnifying lens to see them – and that is the way we are used to thinking of them. But in this book, the insects are presented in their actual sizes and in many cases readers will be genuinely surprised to find some veritable giants among them. The book includes other impressive insect characteristics – how much they weigh, how fast they are, how large and small insects differ from each other – all of which can be seen in the life-size illustrations that make the insects seem as though they have just landed on the page.

A text rich in information and curiosities and the extraordinary overall view guaranteed by the concertina structure of the book will allow readers to observe all the creatures of the grass and ocean at a close distance and to discover their aspects and habits. By unfolding the pages, the beauty of the long, colorful, poetic and, at the same time, extremely realistic and detailed illustration of the young artist Margherita Borin will be revealed, astonishing the readers. Margherita Borin, attended an experimental artistic high school. She then studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice under the guidance of Carlo Di Raco, Mauro Zocchetta, Paolo Fraternali and Aldo Grazi and she graduated with the dissertation Industrial landscape with Aldo Grazi. In her research she conjugates the use of pastels, watercolors, felt-tips, carbon paper, transfers and wood pulp. She currently lives in Pantelleria (Italy).

Discovering the Solar System CONCERTINA BOOK Illustrations by Giulia De Amicis

This book takes young adults on a thrilling voyage to discover the Solar System, and the features of the planets it comprises, of their moons and satellites and of its star, the Sun. This project combines, very effectively, the educational aspect with the pleasure of the discovery. Its concertina-folded pages can be turned as in a book, to come closer gradually to each objective, and opened out completely, for young readers to admire the illustrations which show, with extraordinary efficacy, the majesty of space surrounding us.

16 pp | 260 x 322 mm hardcover ISBN 978-88-544-1217-0

The original format of this book allows the reader to explore the natural environment, discovering the various types of insect that can be found there. After observing the brightly colored illustrations of a place, lift the flap to see the worms hiding under a stone, or a spider in its web. The game of discovery will stimulate the young readers to pay more attention to the space around them, repeating the activities in the book and finding the insects in their natural environment. The images are both detailed and imaginative.

The World of Dinosaurs LIFT THE FLAP Illustrations by Román GarcÍa Mora

The dinosaurs in this book are ready to jump out of the pages to tell you their most incredible secrets. Just lift the flaps to find out about their skin, bones, teeth and many more of the characteristics that have made these creatures of the past so legendary. We will find out about the often bizarre habits and behavior of these gigantic beasts, perhaps also discovering that some weren’t as big as we imagine. The illustrations by paleo-artist and biologist Roman Garcia Mora give a realistic cross-section of the dinosaurs, allowing the reader to see them as if they were right in front of them, in their own prehistoric world. Román García Mora. Drawn to both the world of art and that of science ever since he was a child, Román García Mora graduated in biology. After completing his studies, he decided to combine the two fields that fascinated him the most. Thus, he specialized in scientific illustration, devoting himself to paleo-art. In this context, Román has received many international awards. For White Star he illustrated All About Dinosaurs and This Chicken is a T-Rex!.

Open the flaps and learn everything about dinosaurs: skin, teeth, bones…

Paleontologists today think that the triceratops walked like an elephant with its legs straight under its body and not spread out sideways as they once believed.

Pinocchio

Little Red Riding Hood

Poor Pinocchio! He was sent to work in a circus, where he had to do tricks-running and dancing and jumping. It was a dangerous job-he injured his hoof and could no longer perform, so the angry ringmaster threw him into the sea and left him to drown.

Perhaps he had had enough of adventures, or maybe he did not want to worry his poor father anymore. He loved him dearly!

Holding hands, Pinocchio and Geppetto crept out of the whale’s mouth while it was sleeping and jumped into the sea. They swam and swam and were truly exhausted, when a tuna saw them and carried them to shore on his back. From that day on, Pinocchio never told another lie and never tried to run away again.

When the little girl came into the house and went close to the bed, she was quite shocked by what she found. “Granny, what big eyes you have!” “The better to see you with, dear child,” answered the wolf. “But Granny, what big teeth you have!” said Little Red Riding Hood. “THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH!” cried the wolf.

And he jumped out of bed and, in one bite, ate Little Red Riding Hood, too.

What we know for certain is that a fairy who saw the goodness in him waved her magic wand, and Pinocchio finally became a real boy!

Classic mythology might very well strike fear into young readers. The characters of such a distant world time-wise, a world that mirrors the beliefs and traditions that have not existed for many centuries, might seem to be a difficult subject for a children’s book. But this one refutes this opinion by presenting in a humorous, original and modern key some stories about the principal creatures in ancient Greek mythology – Cerberus, the Sphinx, the Sirens and Centaurs, the Cyclops and Medusa, to mention only few. Thanks to their modern and unique style, the charming, colorful and reassuring illustrations that Marisa Vestita created especially for this book interact perfectly with the short and simple texts that introduce young readers to mythology. They will discover a world that is ancient but really not so different from our own as might seem at first sight. The book also has a digital expansion, thanks to a downloadable APP for an interactive experience full of games, activities, and extra content and projected to guarantee more and more fun. An animal game to learn english while having fun The ideal game to make children approach the English language while having fun, “Dance like..., Sing like..., Jump like...” consists of a die and three decks of cards, each corresponding to one of the mentioned actions. The rules of the game are very simple: after choosing a finish line on the game board, players draw a card from one of the three selected decks and challenge each other to take as many steps as the die indicates, doing the action that the card commands. They will have to dance, sing, or jump like the animal represented on the card, drawn with the ironic and irresistible style of Anna Láng. The first player to reach the finish line will be the winner, but all the participants will have the opportunity to learn with him/her the first words and verbs of the new language, effortlessly and with great laughs.

In an easy and fun way these two volumes, dedicated respectively to the most common objects and situations of everyday life and to children’s favorite animals, introduce young readers to their first, simple but important English words. The original and attractive format of the volume and the colorful and compelling illustrations created by Anna Lang, artist with an inimitable style, are perfect for engaging children and accompanying them in the discovery of their first English vocabulary.
