Wedding of Henna Saarela and Daniel Boren
American man, Finnish bride united at the Lake Henna Riikka Saarela of Keuruu, Finland and Daniel Scott Boren of Whiteville exchanged wedding vows Jan. 10 in a 4 p.m. double ring ceremony at Lake Waccamaw State Park. The Rev. Tim Rausch officiated. The bride is the daughter of Aimo Saarela and Marja-Leena Saarela of Keuruu, Finland. She graduated from JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Finland with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management and tourism. The groom is the son of Evon Boren of Whiteville and the late Danny Boren. He graduated from JAMK University of Applied Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and a degree in paper science and engineering and chemical engineering at N.C. State University. He has accepted employment with International Paper and the couple will make their home in Rome, Ga. Escorted by her brother, Janne Saarela, the bride wore a Galina ivory strapless lace gown embellished with beading and sequins and designed with a melon
colored sash and satin shoes. Sanna Kouvonen of Keuruu was her sister’s honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Stacy Boren of Whiteville, sister of the groom; Tawnia Smith of Fayetteville and Jonna Vornanen of Jyvaskyla, Finland. They wore melon chiffon dresses. Abigail Bowen of Whiteville and Scarlett Boren of Houston, Texas, nieces of the groom, were flower girls. They wore white tea-length dresses with melon boleros. Tommi Timonen of Jyvaskyla, Finland was best man. Groomsmen were Todd Smith of Fayetteville, Brian Boren of Houston, Texas, brother of the groom; and Matthew Underwood of Hickory. The bride’s mother wore a knee length purple dress. The groom’s mother wore a tea-length sandycolored lace over taffeta dress with an embellished jacket. The couple’s families hosted a reception, and a rehearsal dinner was held at San Juan Mexican Restaurant.
