Hannah Billingham is the 2022 Prestige Award’s Yorkshire Ceramic Artist of the Year. She was also nominated for the Emerging Artist Award at Lincoln College of Art & Design in 2019 and was awarded the Gibney Prize for Outstanding Achievement in 2016. Her delicate ceramic forms are hand thrown on the wheel and then precision detailed with an intricate surface of raised sliptrail dots, inspired by naturally occurring patterns in nature, and by the work of artists such 20th century ‘Op Artist’ Bridget Riley and contemporary Mandala painter Elspeth McLean.

Hannah’s practice combines her passion for clay, glazes, texture, and in particular her obsessive love of symmetry and perfection. Rhythm and repetition are an important part of the making process - finished works may have been kiln fired as many as three times - and her unique approach to glaze chemistry results in a fine balance of colours that accentuate her elaborate surfaces. This collection of stemmed vases, bowls and curiously unique forms are all decorated with her iconic dot designs and glazed in a palette of Black and White tones with accents of gold lustre.
