Max. Leuchars attended Bryanston School, whose alumni include internationally respected artists Lucian Freud, Sir Howard Hodgkin and Sir Terence Conran. Max travels widely, seeking inspiration from both rural and urban scenes, painting the sense of vitality and motion he observes by applying paint with a palette knife, and then scratching lines and marks into the surface in the sgraffito style to imply movement, as well as scraping back layers of paint and reworking his surfaces to give a two-dimensional feel to the image. This collection includes works from various locations, including Scotland, European street scenes, and a series of works inspired by Polzeath and the surrounding coast.
