This programme has a high practical component. It aims to produce graduates who have a good grasp of the fundamental principles and theory of IT, together with independent learning skills and familiarity with technologies commonly used in business and industry. The aim of this programme is to combine employability with the academic base required for further study at Postgraduate and Masters levels.

Students can exit from the Bachelor of Information Technology after year one with a Diploma in Information Technology (Level 5), year two with a Diploma in Information Technology (Level 6) or at the completion of year three with a Bachelor of Information Technology.

Graduates can apply to enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology or the Master of Information Technology at Whitireia.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates will have the knowledge and skills in selected areas of IT to become IT professionals. This could be a programmer, team leader, systems analyst, software developer,mobile developer, web developer, website administrator, helpdesk supervisor, computer trainer, network, database or systems administrator.
