LEVEL

Year Three This year is centred on preparing students for their first field placement. Students will have developed sufficient skills to undertake a monitored and supervised field placement where they will observe and participate in service delivery.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Domestic: Degree entry requirements or equivalent academic/work experience; and evidence of suitability based on interview, health screening, safety check and referee reports.

Applicants for whom English is an alternate language and who have not undertaken secondary education in English, Maori or New Zealan d Sign Language: IELTS 6.5 in each band International: IELTS 6.5 in each band

QUALIFICATION Graduates gain a Bachelor of Social Work

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates from this programme can seek employment in a variety of social work or social service agencies including; Statutory social work (Oranga Tamariki, DHB, Corrections), Barnardos, Women’s Refuge, disabilities sector, MÄ ori and Pacific health and social services, central and local government, Family Start, child protection, aged care and mental health.

FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Graduates can apply to enrol in postgraduate study at Whitireia or other tertiary institutions
