On this programme, students will gain awareness of their literacy and numeracy skills and an understanding of the steps required for progression into further study.
Programme information Communication students will develop an understanding of personal literacy and numeracy levels and will progress these levels while gaining confidence in this area throughout the duration of this programme. Learn how to send and receive emails. Self-management students will demonstrate time management and personal presentation skills appropriate to further study or employment scenarios. Learn basic keyboarding skills and about health and safety in a study and work environment. Vocational skills students will develop a basic understanding and application of the Microsoft suite of software and basic computing skills including Excel, Access, Explorer, PowerPoint and Word Processing. Career development students will learn how to prepare and implement a personal study/career plan via a website application. A word processor will be used to produce a template Curriculum Vitae (CV) and letters of application for further study or for the work place. Interview preparation skills will be gained also.
Further study options Students can apply to enrol in one of the Level 2 or higher programmes offered at Whitireia.
