PROGRAMME INFORMATION This programme is designed to produce competent speakers of te reo Māori. The programme aims to deliver a balance between academic and practical learning and consists of writing, speaking, listening and reading te reo Māori. Noho marae and various activities throughout the year are included. The tikanga and noho marae components of this programme give students insight, experience and understanding of the Māori values contained within te reo Māori and traditional tikanga Māori practices.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE Students can study on this programme full-time over the course of a year starting in February and finishing in November. Class times will be Monday to Thursday 9am – 3pm (except school holidays).
FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Graduates can apply to enrol in further study in te reo Māori with the National Diploma in Reo Māori, or further study in education or Māori visual arts
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to be able to engage in te reo Māori in a variety of settings – both social and formal. These skills will enhance career prospects whether in education, media, health, management or business.
QUALIFICATION Graduates will gain a Certificate in Reo Māori (Te Ara Piko)
