ENROL NOW!

Enrolled nurses assist registered nurses to deliver nursing care to individuals in community, residential and hospital settings. Enrolled nurses contribute to nursing assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation; however the registered nurse remains responsible overall. The Enrolled nurses perform delegated interventions from the nursing care plan to: provide care and comfort for individuals and groups, assist and support clients with the activities of daily living, observe and report changes in individual/group conditions and behaviours, safeguard dignity and promote independence.

PROGRAMME INFORMATION The 18 month Diploma is a combination of theory i.e. classroom based sessions at our Porirua campus, and supported clinical experience, which is practical/ hands-on work completed in a variety of community and hospital settings. It is taught in two parts as follows: Part A (Full year) The first year of the programme provides the foundational knowledge and skills required to enable students to work as part of the health care team with clients/ patients/residents in a range of hospital and community settings. Part B (Half year) In the second year, students enrol for six months and work towards being prepared to work effectively, efficiently and safely within a variety of broad practice areas including hospitals and community settings.
