PEOPLE ARE SURPRISED THAT... I’m Native, Black and Hispanic. People look at my features and think I’m just Black.
what i couldn't live without... My do-rags. I have eight of them, all different colors, all a part of me. When I wear one, it’s an expression of myself, my culture and my mood.
best advice... Kindness goes a long way. You don’t understand what people are going through, but kindness allows people to open up to you and allows you to open up to them.
- Ch ris Clay ’22 Community Health and Spanish
Become Prepared At Whitworth you’ll learn how to think, as well as what you need to know. We’ll challenge you to ask tough questions and search fearlessly for answers. You’ll be guided by first-rate Christian professors who not only love to teach, but also to talk with you about life over a cup of coffee. And you’ll put your classroom knowledge into action through internships, research, study abroad and service projects. At Whitworth you’ll become prepared to succeed, serve and lead in a career – and in life.
Choose what matters. CUSTOMIZABLE MAJORS
Choose from more than 100 majors and programs, or design your area of concentration based on your academic interests and career goals.
INTERNSHIPS
Gain on-the-job experience (and professional contacts) through internships. Our career services staff will connect you with a multitude of opportunities locally, nationally and abroad.
RESEARCH
Experience hands-on learning in small lab classes led by Ph.D.-level professors and through collaborative facultystudent research outside of class.
SERVE TO LEARN
Every academic department offers service-learning opportunities, and 98 percent of our students volunteer in the community.

FAVORITE WORD TO DESCRIBE ME... It’s a high compliment when someone describes me as “intentional.” It says a lot about how I want to make people feel. Special and loved.
People are surprised that... I’m really bad at texting. I have so many texts on my phone that I haven’t read. But I love calling and letters. I’m kind of old-fashioned.
best advice... Don’t make decisions without eating first.

Become a Global Citizen Whitworth is a different kind of Christian university. We live, learn and love across our differences, and we discuss difficult issues – with courage and compassion – to find our commonality in God’s reconciling love. At Whitworth you’ll become a global citizen through abundant study abroad/away opportunities, intercultural programs and events on campus, and engagement with Whitworthians from around the world.
Broaden your perspective. COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS, workshops and programs explore challenging social issues through constructive dialogue.

generation students and students from underrepresented racial and ethnic populations.

FAVORITE WORD TO DESCRIBE ME... “Extra.” It sums up my personality – how I make sure
every detail is perfect, how I approach friendships, how I am energetic and happy when I’m on two hours of sleep and 12 Jamba Juices.
at the top of my bucket list... I want to learn to play an instrument so bad. On the rare occasion I’m not in a good mood, music is a reminder that everything’s OK.
on heavy rotation... Pop alternative, country and oldies – inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Alex Henderson ’22 Business Administration
Become a Truth Seeker Whitworth is a community rooted in the grace and truth of Christ. This doesn’t mean you’ll be asked to sign a faith statement. Or be told what to believe. It does mean you’ll be encouraged to seek the truth. To learn and listen with an open mind. To think hard about what you believe and why you believe it. And to connect your faith or worldview commitments to important decisions and lead an integrated life.
Where faith becomes personal. COMMUNITY WORSHIP is twice each week (attendance is optional, but arrive early to get a seat!). Our weekly student-led worship services are a popular evening study break.
ASWU CHARTERED CLUBS include Catholic Fellowship, En Christo ministry to the homeless in Spokane, Jubilation Dance Ministry and more.
YOUNG LIFE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM serves hundreds of high school, middle school and specialneeds youth.
CAMPUS MINISTRY COORDINATORS serve as student-leaders in each residence hall.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION MINISTRIES explore ways to love and glorify all of God’s creation.

HOW I PROCRASTINATE... I read 122 books last year. It’s part of my routine –
I always make time for it. I also watch a lot of Friends and Jane the Virgin on Netflix, and practice handlettering and calligraphy.
best advice... Take care of yourself and practice self-care. It’s super important in college. I’m an introvert, and finding time to be alone and recharge is really important.
top of my bucket list... To write a book. Probably young adult fiction.
