“Volunteering is essential to creating an inclusive and mutually supportive society!”

WHKPASS was founded in 2010 with the aim of raising students' awareness of public issues and to encourage more students to contribute something back to the society. Through intra and inter-university collaborations, we are hoping to expand our members’ horizon to different walks of life. As a Student body, we see this volunteering trip as a valuable selfdevelopment opportunity. In spite of merely providing a platform for volunteers to prepare themselves as a well-rounded person, we are also a strong believer in education without any boundaries. We deeply believe that a more comprehensive, non-framed and multi-lateral knowledge can be gained from both inside and outside university. Through participating in this meaningful trip, we will be able to learn both culturally and academically. Together with other 15 volunteers, we experienced life in different ways. To be specific, we had a chance to witness first-hand experience through activities such as home visiting, English teaching or even dialogues; how people live in rural communities in Liannan. All of these experiences enriched our cultural understanding; more importantly it also helped us to develop a new friendship among local people and volunteers. Despite it may seem a very challenging commitment, we found it an inspirational, invaluable and rewarding experience.

Although my mind was initially filled with a brim of worries, I knew that this experience would definitely be a fruitful and positive experience. The kids were very enthusiastic in making friends with us, even though we might encounter a language barrier.

-The Right Honourable Tony Blair, Prime Minister (1997-2007)-

We believe education provides underprivileged children with skills and knowledge to build a better future for themselves…

Playing basketball with those primary school students and singing English songs with them have made me to see how simple their life is…..

“Every little thing helps…”

This was my first time I stood at the front of the classroom and talked to students. Their eagerness towards education truly impressed me! This volunteering trip brings me a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment.
