BACKGROUND TB-Regional Eastern European and Central Asian Project on Strengthening Health Systems for Effective Tuberculosis (TB) and drug resistant TB prevention and care (TB-REP) is a three-year project starting 2016, funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, implemented by the Center for Health Policies and Studies (PAS Center), as the principal recipient, and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, as the technical lead agency, in collaboration

with partners. The project focuses on accelerating TB prevention and care by removing health system barriers and scaling up health system reforms through catalyzing and supporting interventions in 11 eastern European and central Asian countries.

To improve TB and drug resistant TB outcomes in TB-REP countries through health systems strengthening, leading to people-centred prevention, treatment and care.

Develop a blueprint for a TB model of care 1

OBJECTIVES $ To increase political commitment to end TB, through regional cooperation and evidence sharing, for effective and sustainable transformation of health systems

Conduct high level and bottom-up regional and national advocacy

To support countries to implement effective and efficient TB service delivery systems shifting towards outpatient models of care with sustainable financing and well-aligned payment mechanisms Support implementation of a people-centred TB model of care through country roadmaps

EXPECTED RESULTS

Countries adopt key policies on people-centred TB service delivery, TB care financing and TB human resources

Rational use of hospital care based on clearly defined and adopted admission and discharge criteria

Countries have roadmaps to incorporate peoplecentred policies for sustainable and effective TB prevention and care

Carry out capacity building and regional dialogue for learning events
