10:50 – 11:10 a.m. NETWORKING BREAK
Jim Cline, Founder and Developer, ExcelCEO
Julie Kowalski, President, Spizzerinctum Group The realities of this new 21st century society require a new approach to the old concepts of business and email etiquette from when we grew up. This presentation is a must for anyone working in today’s complex work environment. You will learn the most common business etiquette mistakes and how to avoid them.
AFFORDABLE CARE ACT COMPLIANCE
Pamela Branshaw, CPA, CEBS, Partner-in-Charge, Employee Services, Wipfli LLP Are you meeting your compliance obligations for your company’s health insurance? The varied reporting obligations for employer health insurance and the complicated coverage requirements for applicable large employers can make the job of managing health benefits very challenging. This session will cover the ACA requirements for employer health plans, including: • What are the filing requirements for my plan? • What forms and notices need to be provided to employees? • Is my company an applicable large employer? • Have I met the 2015 Form 1095-C filing obligations? Will I trigger any penalties under the employer shared responsibility rules? • How can I better plan to meet the health plan coverage requirements?
12:10 – 1 p.m. NETWORKING LUNCH
1 – 2 p.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS TEXT FUNCTIONS & MACROS
CONNECT SOURCING, RECRUITING & ONBOARDING FOR BETTER, NOT JUST MORE CANDIDATES
In this session, we will use several text functions to show how to manipulate text strings of data. We will finish the session by exploring the macro recording tool as well as briefly discuss Visual Basic for Applications, shortcut keys, editing a macro and using a command button to execute a macro.
Since 2011, the number of people actively applying for jobs has risen by more than a third, while the quality of candidates has noticeably decreased. More candidates create more work, compliance risk and added noise for the recruiting team. Cracking the code on the right message and process to attract great people to your organization can be done – it starts in sourcing and continues through the recruiting process and into onboarding.
Jim Cline, Founder and Developer, ExcelCEO
WISCONSIN & MULTISTATE SALES & USE TAX HOT AUDIT ISSUES
Craig Cookle, CPA, Partner, State & Local Tax Group, Wipfli LLP Daryl Ohland, CPA, Director, State & Local Tax Group, Wipfli LLP It’s easy to get lost in ever-changing sale and use tax laws. Each transaction your company makes could have potential sales and use tax implications. Guidance from the state can be generic and often times it’s difficult to determine applicability to your organization. Sales and use tax audits are not only on the rise in Wisconsin but other states as well. This presentation will address an overview of hot sales and use tax audit issues in Wisconsin and other states as well as address steps you can take to be in compliance with state regulations.
LEAN OUT THE LEAN PROCESS WITH “DISCOVERY WALKS”
Mark Stevens, Partner, Manufacturing and Distribution, Wipfli LLP Imagine for a moment slowing your processes down enough to see and discover wasteful activities in your critical business processes. And, if you could change those processes and either reduce the effort by 50% or make them go twice as fast without adding people or equipment, what impact would that have on your business. If that sounds intriguing, attend this session that “sets the stage” for leaders who desire to make a difference in changing your organization.
Jim Fox, Senior Managing Consultant, Baker Tilly
Come to this session to hear how clients have successfully connected these three parts of their recruiting system to attract and retain top talent to help their organizations succeed.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: JUST WHAT IS IT & DO I HAVE IT? Julie Kowalski, President, Spizzerinctum Group
Emotional intelligence (EI) has become one of the hottest buzzwords in corporate America, yet not many really know exactly what emotional intelligence is, how it is measured or how they can use EI to help them get ahead. In this session, you will understand exactly what EI is and is not, as well as specific actions to strengthen your EI.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FROM MADISON
Alice O’Connor, Principal, Constituency Services, Inc. This presentation will recap the 2015-2016 session along with a look at what is ahead and anticipated outcomes for good public policy that must always be mindful of the politics that can impede success. Policy areas the WICPA shaped will also be discussed.
THERE IS NO REWARD WITHOUT RISK Cathy Berg, CGEIT, CISA, Senior Manager, Risk Advisory Services, Ernst & Young LLP
Organizations today are challenged with managing a rapidly changing risk landscape, but this challenge also presents an opportunity to take advantage of the upside potential of risk. While organizations have improved the way they identify, manage and respond to risk, the primary focus has been on risks that can be managed through controls, but offer little upside or benefit. In this session, we will explore insights into looking at risk differently, building a risk-aware organization, today’s biggest business concerns and what the next steps are.
3:20 – 3:30 p.m. NETWORKING BREAK 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. GENERAL SESSION BRANDING FROM THE INSIDE OUT Will Ruch, CEO, Versant, Inc.
