Spring Break Camps

SPRING BREAK CAMP: WILLY WONKA WEEK Grades K–5. The golden ticket is your pass for a week of candy magic. Kids will explore the wonderful world of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory through crafts, recipes, science experiments, and games.

SPRING CLIMBING CAMP Ages 6-10. In this three-day camp, staff and volunteers will teach kids the basics of climbing and slacklining in a fun and safe environment. All kids need to bring is a sack lunch, snacks, a water bottle, and lots of energy. Gear is provided.

SKILLS CAMP: MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL Grades 5-8. Join this skills-based week-long camp where student athletes will build fundamental basketball skills. Participants will practice essential drills on dribbling, passing, shooting, and game experience. Willamalane Middle School Sports coaches will help young athletes build confidence, selfesteem, and more passion for the game.

SKILLS CAMP: MULTI-SPORTS Grades 1-5. Join this skills-based camp where students will focus on fundamentals, sportsmanship, and athletic development. Athletes will learn the basics of eight different sports, including sports they may have never tried!

Two50 Youth Center

Grades 6–8. Two50 is a free club for Springfield middle schoolers. Willamalane staff will supervise a variety of activities and games. It’s a great place to do homework, hang out with friends, play video games, and have fun. It’s conveniently located in Bob Keefer Center with daily after-school hours. To learn more and join, go to willamalane.org/Two50. • Open during the school year, Monday–Friday, 3–6 p.m. • Closed on no-school days and holidays. • Opens at 1:30 p.m. on early release days.

Climbing

From the 12-foot bouldering wall to the 33-foot-tall free-form climbing wall, Bob Keefer Center has something for people of all climbing levels. Choices of ropes and auto belays make it easy for new climbers to navigate the wall and experienced climbers to find a challenge. Drop-in fees include a harness, shoes, chalk, and belay devices. WOMEN ON THE WALL Ages 14+. This monthly clinic is designed to provide a comfortable and non-intimidating atmosphere just for women. Trained staff will cover basic climbing techniques with participants.

INTRO TO BELAY CLINIC Ages 14+. This clinic is a great way to learn the basics of roped climbing. Learn knots, the belay process, and safety procedures. At the end of the course, participants can get belay certified at the Willamalane rock wall.

OPEN CLIMB All ages. Scale Bob Keefer Center’s 33-foot climbing wall. Staff and volunteers will help you to successfully scale the wall while sharpening your climbing skills. Gear is included. For a list of upcoming open climb times, visit willamalane.org/climb.

YOUTH CAPOEIRA CLASSES Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art that incorporates elements of dance and acrobatics in a game of ritual, non-contact combat. ADULT CAPOEIRA INTRO SERIES Ages 18+. Capoeira is a Brazilian Martial Art that incorporates elements of dance and acrobatics in a game of ritual combat. This course is designed for beginners and focuses on the core movements of capoeira: footwork, kicks, escapes, inversions, balance, flexibility, and flow. Pickleball

Enjoy one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports! Pickleball is a low-impact sport played with a wooden paddle and a whiffle ball on a small court. Play singles or doubles. This is a great game for those using wheelchairs. Indoor courts are available year-round on a first-come, firstserved basis at Bob Keefer Center. Outdoor courts are available at Meadow Park. Tennis

Willamalane has a robust indoor and outdoor tennis program, with something for all skill levels, ages, and seasons. Indoor courts are available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis at Bob Keefer Center. Outdoor tennis courts are located at Douglas Gardens Park, Guy Lee Park, Page Park, and Willamalane Park. These courts are not fully maintained during winter months. Court rentals are available. For details about competitions, tournaments, and lessons visit willamalane.org/tennis. GROUP TENNIS LESSONS Ages 5+. Willamalane tennis lessons are available for players at every experience level. Students learn fundamentals, rules, positioning, and strategy. Skills and games are a part of tennis lessons. Registration is required for all lessons. No lessons are held on holidays.

Youth Sports

Willamalane’s individual and team sports focus on building skills and sportsmanship in a positive environment. Activities are available for preschoolers, grade schoolers, and middle schoolers, and are great for building athletic and social skills to last a lifetime.
