Powderhouse Pet Resort was designed with the eye of an experienced pet care professional and animal lover. Starting with its quiet country atmosphere, each pet has an indoor heated and air conditioned run with an adjoining covered outdoor run. In addition, each pet is taken out several times a day. Powderhouse Pet Resort’s ½ acre supervised play yard with its agility equipment is the perfect place for your dog to safely get some exercise. The grooming salon is legendary in the community for having three of the original groomers still in place since the grand opening.

AIKEN DOG PARK
The Aiken Dog Park is a joint project between City of Aiken and Aiken SPCA and is available to residents and non-residents. Open to all sizes of dogs the facility is split into three areas, one for small dogs, one for big dogs and a common area where both large and small dogs can roam free. There is also a wading pool for those dogs that love to get wet! The park is open seven days a week from sunrise until sundown.
Before using the park pet owners must purchase a Day Membership through The SPCA. There is a $10 per day charge to use the park and must present current vaccination for your dog(s). Once the day pass is purchased and your dog(s) is registered, they will provide access to the park. Pet owners can purchase passes for their dogs to the park at the Aiken SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare (Aiken SPCA) located at 199 Willow Run Road between the hours of 8AM and 5PM. DOG FRIENDLY TRAILS
Hitchcock Woods is the largest urban forest in the United States. In the late 1800’s Thomas Hitchcock and his wife discovered the area. Mr. Hitchcock invested millions buying land for a hunting preserve. In 1939, he set aside 1,200 acres of his land with a stipulation that the land never be sold to a private individual or firm. A private foundation, The Hitchcock Woods Foundation, now manages The Woods with the help of volunteers and contributions. The entrance to the Hitchcock Woods is short walk from the hotel. The 70 mile network of crisscrossing trails are marked. No cars or bikes are permitted in The Woods. Only people, well behaved dogs and horses.
