The Projection Centre focuses on the development of the arts as a way to bridge cultural differences. From the artifical landscape the community can interact and access the rest of the community centre at any moment. The cultural centre is comprised of three fragments: the visual arts centre, the performance art centre, and the fitness centre. These fragments read as a extrusion from the landscape while the 2nd floor sits as the single aparent monolithic build form on the site. Views connect individuals and a sense of voyeurism is at play. The extrusions were made in acknowledgement of key moments of the site. The Projection Centre focuses on distinguishing the three various aspects of art through the interaction of the building, public space, and community.

honourable mention 4th in collab: logan steele Highline Cinemas introduces to the city what has previously been confined to the suburbs: the Drive-in Cinema. During the day the proposal serves as a functional, high density parking garage with accommodations for 252 vehicles. However, unlike a conventional parking garage which becomes inert overnight, our proposal comes to life as a vertically oriented drive-in cinema. Boasting two main screens along with a host of secondary screens ranging from one to three floors in height with various configurations in response to orientation and theatre functions, Highline Cinemas also provide moving pods with various functions and generous sheltered public spaces.

RISE was the result of a CITA workshop which seeks to investigate and represent self supported growth. The individual nodes are made up of mirrored plates and plexi glass which are laser cut and bounded together. After forming the bases, glass-fibre reinforced plastic strands thread through each of the nodes tying, and reinforcing the entire structure. White thread is wrapped around every bundle and tied to bind each bundle tighter together to add another layer of aesthetics. I mainly helped fabricate the installation from laser cutting to the assemblage of the nodes.

Stream is proposed as an elevated, multipurpose walkway. It is lifted 5m off the ground at a level at which it would not disrupt the context building’s north view while allowing cars to access underground parking, Circulation is split into two paths, one for cyclers, and one for pedestrians. Along the path there are sections for gardening, and a central communal space for citizens and tourists. Stream allows tourists and citizens to dwelve off the attractive gas town along water street and experience a spetacular view while immersing themselves to the local vegetations and arts.

Flow is a self sustaining organism in which the challenge was to create medium-high density apartment buildings on conventional-size city lots. It is a self sustaining residence that speaks to creating apartment buildings with extremely limited parking, compact core; to maximize residential surface area, adaptability for future changes, and housing some sort of commercial/ institutional occupancy at ground level.

in collab: nikola miloradovic The Nomadic Box is a modern portable classroom - a sustainable unit which uses no external energy to power its systems. This classroom is based in the cold climate of Whitehorse, Yukon. A lot of focus was allotted to two aspects of this project: the site conditions for the unit, and the organization of layered spaces inside the unit. Although the location is specified somewhere within Whitehorse, there is no exact spot for this classroom. With its portable nature, it can be used anywhere within the town, but the urban setting is not the limit. While students are on their winter/spring/summer break, the classroom can be disassembled and moved to a more rural location, such as a forest or by lakeside. This option avllows the students to learn in a new, refreshing environment for a semester, which we believe will inspire an appreciation for the environment of this Earth. This idea is a key plan of action for the young generations of today, and it realizes how their initial education can impact their beliefs for the rest of their life.
