OPEN’s branding explores the tight and cramped contact within public space. As well as public spaces being open, they more often than not are very crowded, especially when holding an event. We have shown this through the use of square shapes to define space, on a denotative level this represents the public space both in which the exhibition will be held and the different space sizes that individuals work pieces for the events are based around. We will look at working with varying sizes off the square. Black and white was chosen as there is no consistent theme within the exhibition, as the work will be varied presenting a mixture of colour. As student’s prints will be at least two tone colour we have used the opposite in black and white to be neutral against the vibrancy of the traditional prints. Helvetica is also chosen due to its neutrality, open placed in bold with tight tracking to again represent limited space. As we trying to communicate deliverables within everyone’s work we have looked at half toning which is used within screen printing, which is one of the main methods that will be used. Half toning uses repeat pattern of circles which can be quite visually compelling but reminds the viewer of the exhibition.
