13th, Netflix This latest Neflix exclusive is based on true events. A globally renowned pastor is branded a modern day heretic when he preaches in his church that there is no hell. Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year and filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, director Joshua (‘Complete Unknown’) Marston has assembled an impressive cast that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Sheen and Danny Glover.

Tully 20th, In Cinemas Marlo, a mother of three including a brand new baby, is gifted a night nanny by her brother. Hesitant to the extravagance at first, she comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully. Charlize Theron and Mackenzie Davis star in this comedy that reunites them with ‘Juno’ and ‘Young Adult’ writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman.

Game Over, Man! 20th, Netflix This action comedy sees three friends on the verge of getting their video game financed when their benefactor is taken hostage by terrorists. Taking its inspiration from ‘Die Hard’ and its title from a quote in ‘Aliens’ it stars Adam DeVine and Anders Holm. It will be no surprise to see Seth Rogen’s name on the producer credits, given his track record with this genre.

Avengers: Infinity War 27th, In Cinemas This is the film that fans have been waiting for since Marvel announced the original ‘Iron Man’ film ten years ago. This unites every main character from their cinematic universe (all 64 of them!) as they battle the interstellar bad guy Thanos, played by Josh Brolin. Hixon Green 124 Church Rd, Hove, BN3 2EA | 01273 770011 | hixongreen.co.uk Located in Hove on a prime corner location with landscape windows, ideal for people watching inside and out. Hixon Green arrived last year and has been gaining a loyal following from locals with its on trend interior design appealing to a mixed crowd. My visit was the week the “Beast from East” arrived and I managed to get to meet up with my friend Steve (City Cabs) and Jessie (Gaydio – new radio station for Brighton) who were already sitting in the warm and comfortable surroundings. As the snow continued to fall, we were approached by the staff who were very hospitable and attentive. Breakfast was on our minds and looking across at a fellow diner tucking into a rather large full English breakfast, we were tempted but we were conscious to keep healthy. The diner saw us eyeing his breakfast and said “ fantastic breakfast but I’m struggling to finish it”. So on browsing through the menu Steve & I decided on the eggs benedict as a healthy option accompanied by a large cappuccino. Jessie decided on a coffee and fresh croissant. I know I should have had a herbal tea, but I needed the caffeine. Our beautifully presented plates arrived swiftly, comprised of fresh baked muffins with layers of spinach, crispy smoked bacon and poached egg dressed with a hollandaise sauce. The poached eggs were perfect on both our dishes. 10 out of 10 Before we knew it two hours had passed and we had not been hurried in any way. The bill came and we all thought that it was good value for the quality of the food and service. I can see this becoming a regular for our meets.

WHAT’S ON FESTIVAL GUIDE 2018

H! T N O M T X E OUT N credit: Sam Neill

Love Supreme Jazz Festival

30th June – 2nd July Glynde Place, East Sussex Over the last 5 years we have been lucky enough to attend all of the Love Supreme’s! We wouldn’t miss this for the world as its where we have seen some of the music legends. Chaka Khan, Brian Ferry, Candi Staton, Soul To Soul, Kellis, Caro Emerald and last year Grace Jones. This year you will be spoilt with are George Benson and Herbie Hancock headlining. *The food is very good at this festival! You can literally eat your way round the entire site over the course of the weekend. lovesupremefestival.com

Wildlife

Brighton City Airport 9th-10th June A good warm up to the summer season, Wildlife is usually the first festival we at What’s On go to each summer. It signifies the fest season kicking in. Although this is just outside of the city centre the transport links are excellent getting to and from the site. So far the line up includes Jess Glynne, George Ezra, Rag N Bone, Eric Prydz and our city’s very own resident DJ and producer Fat Boy. We can’t wait to see Lara Larsson. Bring on June! wildlifefestival.com
