• A win over Ohio Saturday would give UT a 5-5 all-time record in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It would also give the Vols their sixth NCAA Sweet Sixteen berth (1967, 1981, 2000, 2007, 2008). • In terms of total wins, this ties as Tennessee’s second-best season of all-time. The 2007-08 team won a school-record 31 games, and the 1999-2000 team also won 26 contests—both of those teams advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. • Backup Tennessee point guard Melvin Goins enjoyed his best game as a Vol in UT’s first-round victory over San Diego State Thursday. The San Diego, Calif., native set career-highs for points (15) and 3-pointers made (4) during 19 solid minutes of action. • Vols senior Wayne Chism has scored 92 points in eight career NCAA Tournament games (11.5 ppg). • Senior wing J.P. Prince led the Vols with 15 points Thursday, as Tennessee improved to 15-2 this season when the Memphis, Tenn., native scores in double figures. • Senior point guard Bobby Maze has scored at least 10 points in 10 of UT’s last 12 games. • Thursday’s game against the Aztecs marked the 20th game this season in which Tennessee held its opponents to worse than 40 percent shooting; UT is 20-0 in those contests. • UT has been ranked in the top 20 in both major polls throughout the entire season to date. • After inking three highly-touted signees during November’s early signing period, UT’s current crop of recruits is ranked fourth nationally by Rivals.com. For more, see the signee note on Page 6.
