2017 Changes
This year at Willowbank we have some new and exciting changes! One of these being the use of Seesaw. This has enabled students to share their classroom learning with their whanau.
This year also brought a big change to the school grounds with the creation of the bike track. Students of all ages have enjoyed getting to use the brand new track and bikes. Even Ms Alderson has tried out the track.

Room 6's Drama Skit of Solids, Liquid and Gas
As soon as I saw those beautiful horses, I just wanted to ride it as if I was a professional horse rider “ Yee ha “. But first we had to learn the instructions. After, we learnt the important instructions we put on our heavy gumboots and our protective helmet, just incase we might get hurt. Once we all had a turn on each of the horses, we decided, I mean the instructors decided that we could play a game, so we did. The first game we played was when we had balance a tennis ball on top of a spoon, while riding on the horse, and also because we finished early we got free time on the horses. By Chantelle, Room 6

The instructor told me to heave myself over the edge of the tan wicker basket. It felt like I was climbing over Mount Everest. I made it over and my arms were aching from the effort. The instructor climbed in and calmly told me to grip the parachute valve cords. These shiny, metallic cords connected the wicker basket, the burner, and the envelope. I gripped them with all my might, and my knuckles went white. I was sweating and biting my lip, even before we took off. “Ok,” the instructor said, “keep calm. If you shake the basket we could fall.” This made me sweat even harder. I probably looked like a shower head. The white-hot flame burst out of the burner. We started out accent. By Espen, Room 8
I have an evil looking glance along with a devilish grin on my wickedly glacial face, whilst my brittle eyes clench in sync, and my shaggy eyelids gradually shut and energetically become exposed again. I feel troublesome feeding into my busy brain as I think of gruesome tricks. I sneakily creep around the house with dead silent footsteps trying not to let my movement alert anyone around me. I'm as infuriating as a orangutan. I feel very mischievous. By Latesha, Room 9

A poor sailor is riding in a boat, and it is dark and stormy. Every wave seems to crash his tiny little boat. But he doesn’t seem to be afraid. He just uses his dreamy eyes to stare at the mysterious front. His boat was shaking hard like a roller coaster just like it’s about to flip over but he still doesn’t seem to be afraid. I guess he is thinking about his family far far away, they should be worried. By Tony, Rm 2

Room 9's Calendar Art Have you ever wanted an escape to a piece of paradise? Well, I think I have the perfect place for you to go! Canterbury! It is an amazing region on New Zealand’s beautiful South Island. It’s known for grassy green plains, crystal clear lakes and sugar snow-capped mountains. Take a day trip to see the beautiful cardboard cathedral! Also known the Transitional Cathedral. It is used as a temporary cathedral to replace the Christchurch cathedral that was damaged in the 2011 quakes. Or do you maybe want to escape to paradise and go to the natural Riverside Botanic Gardens? Nestled beside the crystal clear Avon River. The whole garden has over 21 hectares of pristine nature and is located right in the middle of Christchurch. By Hannah, Room 5
