This project began at May 2014, with two students from Stanford University.We overcame many technical issues to get here, and were invested over US$ 2 million ( 1.5million from kickstarter ) before it was produced. Sesame replaces your keys with your phone in seconds. It also ďŹ ts into your lock, without removing anything.You can use your phone to control the lock from anywhere, share the keys as you want to, and make a easy security as well as house management. ,It is the smallest and easiest smart lock in the world.

1 Year Surpassed We have tried many types of batteries and decided to use four AA batteries, but before we were going to produce Sesame, we found out that CR123A battery can be more suitable in our product--less numbers (only two), higher voltage, and longer life.Therefore, we stoped producing and began to redesign Sesame. We made it smaller, and changed the look. Although it cost us much more time and efforts, we believe that’s the right decision.
Long battery life Sesame lasts about 500 days on lithium batteries (supplied), and sends a notiďŹ cation when the batteries are low.
3 Steps to replace the battery Step1. Move the cover (You don’t need any tool. Just take it up). Step2. Remove the dead batteries with new CR123A. Step3. Put the cover back on and start using it again!

The concept of a robot has been very far from that of "keys". With Sesame, the concept is "issuing permission to people", rather than "giving them copies of the key".You can grant the permission to up to hundreds of people but none of them can simply copy the key to someone else. Much more secure.

Worried? What if the phone got lost? You can log-on to candyhouse.co and remove access authorization for that device. When you get a new phone, simply download the Sesame App and log in to your account. And key still works.
What if the phone is out of power? You can always use your key to open the door. Alternatively, you can also use a friend or neighbor’s phone to download the app, use your login to access the door, then delete the app.Sesame's power lasts about 500 days. It will keep notifying you through app when batteries are low. Also, it is very easy to order CR123A batteries on Amazon/eBay and get them in two days.

As small as possible Although it will higher our cost, we made the WiFi access point as small as possible because we want to give customers the best, designed it as a simple pretty device, so you won’t feel weird when plug it on the wall. The Wi-Fi Access Point runs open source OpenWrt Linux and uses 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a Bluetooth LE 4.0 radio. It’s fully compatible with Arduino IDE v1.5.4 or later the ideal choice to connect your Bluetooth devices to your home/mesh Wi-Fi network.

Work Process
At first, only three of us started this project. Marketing is the first step. We researched various locks and recorded different requirements. We want our product as small as possible but also can fit most of locks in target market. That will be the conflicting goals, but will also be the most competetive part.
We tryed hard to solve mechanical problem, using oldham coupling, universal joint as the outset, and then we kept challenging it to be smooth, small, convenient. Ultimately, we designed a whole new mechanical joint which approached our goals. However, we didn’t stop challenging to be better.
At the same time, I started to design the form of our product.As the mechanism progressing, the design has changed again and again. From the process, I felt I’m improving, too. I did not only design the cover, but the mechanism and other details such as the wire space and installing consideration.
Automatic control & software part was a challenge too, considered the cost and the size, we kept ďŹ nding the best way, and that influenced the design, too.Working on the electronic control system and PCB. We brainstormed together and adjusted the design.
Before launch on kickstarter, we started to seek the cooperative factory, and looked for some electrical companents. Especially, we redesigned Sesame, adjusted it to be perfect.
