Parent and carer FAQs

Will my child be studying GCSEs at College? Our GCSE program at College is designed for students who have covered all the GCSE material at School. Therefore, students who have not covered the material would struggle to complete the course in a year. Instead, we offer Maths and English Functional Skills from Entry Level up to Level 2.

How informed will I be of my child’s education at College? Tutors, lecturers and the School Provision team will regularly inform you of your child’s progress, attendance and behaviour. You will also be invited to attend meetings and parent’s evenings to stay up-to-date with your child’s progress. We complete regular reports which we send to Schools for distribution to parents.

How will my child benefit from attending College? Being at school doesn’t always suit everyone; sometimes, the independence and atmosphere offered at the College can make all the difference to a student’s motivation and achievements. Class sizes here are small, usually between 10 and 18 students, meaning that each student receives more personal help and attention. All our staff have relevant industry experience and bring their knowledge and skills into the classroom. Spending time at one of our campuses enables students to get first-hand experience of College life, making it less daunting when they leave school at 16.
