Welcome to ‘Create Innovate Investigate’. What a joy to be able to showcase the work of our wonderful students in the amazing new Auditorium.
Tonight’s music is sung by Parker Golby, our wonderful year 13 music rep, and talented singer and harpist. They have been an integral part of the music and art department for many years, and thus this is a fitting event for Parker to sing at. Our sincere thanks to them.

GCSE and A Level Art show
As part of this show tonight you will be viewing the A-level and GCSE Art shows.
They have displayed their final outcomes and their sketchbooks, which show how the ideas have been developed. For GCSE coursework their themes are set by the school and were ‘Fragility’ and ‘Reflections a distortions’.
Students often start by recording photographically, or using drawing, then experiment with materials before planning a final piece.
The department has a focus on working from direct observation and we use a range of techniques such as printmaking, mixed media, painting and 3d work.
In the case of the A level, they selected their own themes for their Personal investigations, to tie in with their personal studies. The exam themes are set by the exam board. This year the themes were ‘Complex or simple’ for A-level and ‘Lock’ for GCSE.
Congratulations to all students on their amazing shows as a department we are so proud of your extraordinary achievements.
Science
As part of the Year 8 Science Fair this evening, you will be given the opportunity to see students investigate a question they chose.
Working independently, they will put their skills to the test as they investigate the wonderful world of Science!
The Science Fair is the culmination of students’ work in Science at Key Stage 3. They have worked on being able to identify and control variables, collect and present data in a suitable form, and analyse and interpret data applying their understanding of scientific principles.
