It’s hard to predict just how many inches of snow can fall during a snowstorm. Sometimes, Mother Nature delivers a soft, powdery snow that’s heavy and fast falling. Sometimes, it’s sleet and freezing temperatures that make the roadway an ice-skating rink. No matter the kind of precipitation, if conditions are treacherous, there’s a good chance the Town of Windsor will declare Accident Alert
In Colorado, Accident Alert is a system that law enforcement agencies use during times when they are overwhelmed with calls or resources, typically due to severe weather conditions or high accident rates. When an Accident Alert is issued, it temporarily changes the way certain types of accidents are handled.
During this time, motorists involved in an accident with minor damage, no injuries and no suspected substance involvement are directed to exchange information and file an online report at dmv.colorado.gov/report-accident.
Accident Alert is declared at the discretion of the Windsor Police Department and can be triggered due to multiple different factors. Windsor’s Snow Team efforts don’t impact whether Accident Alert is activated.
