T h e U n fat h o m a b l e Lightness of Sailing Standing on the teak-lined deck of your Windstar sailing yacht, you take a look around. Below, people have gathered on the pier to admire this remarkable vessel — so elegant, so streamlined, so different from any other ship in the harbor. Two hundred feet above, crisp, white sails unfurl against a brilliant, blue sky. Music surrounds you as lines are loosened and the sails catch wind. As the saltsea air fills your lungs, you’re awash in a sense of freedom and adventure that’s as old as time itself. Gentle trade winds rustle through your hair and, for the first time in ages, you feel at one with nature and the sea. Light hearted, carefree and utterly alive. As you discover the exhilarating romance of sailing, time slows down — yet the world seems to expand. Azure seas shimmer like silk, drawing you ever closer to white-sand beaches, ancient ruins and majestic shorelines. Where will the sails of Windstar take you today? The answer, as always, is written in the wind.

T h e J oy f u l E x u b e r a n c e o f t h e Ya c h t i n g L i f e Welcome to a place where every day is independence day. With 312 or fewer guests onboard, there’s little room on our graceful sailing yachts for rules and routines. Here the prevailing attitude is one of ease and delight. Instead of the crowds and schedules of a large cruise ship, Windstar blends the relaxed luxury of yachting with the untethered freedom of sailing. For one delightful week (or more), Windstar feels like your own private yacht. Wander out to the expansive deck to chat with a fellow traveler or check out the ever-changing view from the rail. You may spot a pelican or porpoise swimming alongside the ship, or see an ancient fortress looming on the horizon. Then again, you may seek out a private space on the deck to simply kick back and feel the refreshing spray of the sea. Maybe you’ll decide to track down the source of that enticing aroma coming from the galley. Or join other guests for drinks at the Pool Bar or nightly entertainment in the comfortable Lounge. On Windstar, you’re free to discover a little bit of paradise before you ever leave the ship.

It’s Our Pleasure to S e rv e Yo u You are about to enter a state of sheer delight. Aboard a Windstar yacht, endless pampering is the one and only order of the day. Thirsting for a perfectly prepared martini? Done. Think a fresh lemon sorbet would taste good right about now? It’s delivered to your spot by the pool before you even ask. Our gracious staff has an uncanny knack for anticipating your every need. Whether it’s a cool towel awaiting you after a hot day on the beach, or being greeted by name with a warm smile. (Amazing how your stateroom is transformed into a spotless retreat in the short time you’ve been away for breakfast!) Feel free to ask the world of us. On Windstar, it’s our pleasure to surprise and delight you at every turn.

Adrift in a Sea of T ranquility Your quiet room is a sea of tranquility. Outside, you can see the water — sun-lit and shimmering and vast. Inside, you can’t help but smile as you look around. Sumptuous L’Occitane en Provence products await in the bathroom. Comfortable slippers and waffle-weave robes make you feel right at home. (If you’re searching for a total retreat for the mind, body and soul, try our decadent Spa Suites on Wind Surf.) Once you’ve unpacked, it’s time to relax. You can watch a movie from our DVD collection — or better yet, watch the nature show going on outside your window. If you’re settled in and don’t feel like moving, no problem. Simply order dinner in your room. It’s available 24 hours and served in courses with the same polish and attention you’ll find in The Restaurant. As you slip between the luxurious linens on your freshly made bed, the gentle movement of the yacht eases you ever so gently into a night of sweet dreams.

Degrees (Wind Surf only) The fresh, seasonal ingredients and authentic preparations that are the hallmark of Mediterranean cuisine are the inspiration behind Degrees restaurant. A rotating menu of 70 spirited recipes reflects the regional flavors and cooking style of many of the places we sail. A taste of Degrees’ menu includes: Canapé Pissaladierre — a caramelized onion tartlet with Niçoise black olives; Assiette Charcuterie — Spanish pork loin lomo, French saucisson, Italian speck and celery root remoulade; Pan Roasted Duck Breast with Apricots; and Honey-Coated Calmyrna Figs in a Pistachio Tuile. Reservations recommended.

Candles Grill As the sun sets and the stars begin their nightly show, enjoy a front row seat outdoors at Candles Grill. anything else on earth. Reservations recommended.

Le Marché (Wind Surf only) Discover the rich bounty of the sea at Le Marché. This veritable treasure chest of ocean-fresh cuisine features an outstanding array of fish and shellfish dishes. Start with Scallops Ceviche or Tuna Sashimi. Move on to Le Bisque d’Homard (a delicious lobster soup), followed by a crisp Greek Salad. The main course includes highlights such as Le Plateau de Fruits de Mer, a shareable tower of mouth-watering shellfish. Finish with a sumptuous cheese selection and a nice glass of port. Reservations recommended.

The Veranda A quiet spot on the deck. A cup of freshly brewed coffee in hand. You watch as the morning sun makes its imprint on an endless expanse of sea. Is there a better way to start the day? The Veranda offers your choice of dining inside or breakfast alfresco. Fresh fruit, buttery croissants and madeto-order omelets are just a taste of what you’ll enjoy from a seemingly endless buffet. Later, The Veranda is transformed into the world’s most colorful lunch venue, featuring a rainbow of fresh, crisp salads, delicious sandwiches and a tantalizing selection of meat and seafood, hot off the grill.

Compass Rose (Wind Surf) Poolside (Wind Star and Wind Spirit) No matter how early you rise, or how late you sleep in, we’re ready with breakfast. Simply cruise by the pool on Wind Star or Wind Spirit for a full continental breakfast — or visit the Compass Rose on Wind Surf starting at 6:00 a.m. This is what Windstar sailing is all about: doing what you please, when you please.

Yacht Club Sandwich Bar (Wind Surf only) Drop by the Yacht Club Sandwich Bar between meals for a generous made-to-order sandwich, as well as fresh fruit and cookies. Enjoy them onboard, or take them ashore for an instant picnic.

Moments

12

W i n d s ta r C ru i s e s . c o m

M ag i c i n t h e M o m e n t Smoking volcanoes, ancient ramparts and windswept beaches loom into view as you sail along the coastline. Above, white sails billow against a cloudless, blue sky. While all around, only shimmering, turquoise sea and blissful quietude. (No room for big cruise ships in these privileged waters.) Nearing the harbor, you feel the envy of all on shore as you make an unforgettable entrance in your elegant sailing yacht. Magical moments like these are a matter of course on Windstar. In fact, it’s amazing how our smaller yachts offer so many larger-thanlife memories. They can be as special as our deck barbeques, elaborate sunset celebrations followed by music, dancing and entertainment from our talented crew. Or our Caribbean and Costa Rica beach barbecues — featuring fresh-grilled meat, seafood and sides served yachting stylewith a fully stocked beach bar. Sometimes the magic is found in quieter moments when the engines are off, the sails are up and the only thing you hear is the sound of the sea. Or, conversely, in “feeling the ride” when the yacht is at full sail. And who needs a formal lecture about navigation when you’re free to visit the Bridge and talk to the Captain one-on-one? (He may even invite you to take the helm for a few minutes!) If you’re fortunate enough to encounter another Windstar sailing yacht during your Caribbean or Greek Isles voyage, you’re in for one of the most magical of moments: a graceful “dance” as one of our beautiful white yachts circles the other against sapphire-blue waters. It’s all part of an experience that, like Windstar, is 180˚ From Ordinary ®.

Get Closer to the Most Int riguing Places on Ea rth A Windstar voyage lets you get to know the world on more intimate terms. That’s why we sail closer to legendary ports-of-call such as Venice, Rome and Athens — as well as newer ones like Lipari, Italy and Mariehamn, Finland. It’s why we visit harbors known only to other yachters like Soper’s Hole in the Caribbean and Gythion in Greece. Even our intimate shore excursions are designed to help you delve deeper into local customs and cultures. Windstar yachts make traversing the Panama Canal more breathtaking — and the Norwegian fjords even more astonishing. They also allow us to visit places that are off limits to large cruise ships, like the unspoiled Tobago Keys in the Grenadines. Whether you’re sailing along the historic banks of the Mediterranean or enjoying a romantic dinner Costa Rica

under the stars in Costa Rica, Windstar — like the perfect vacation — is all about getting closer.

T h e M e d i t e rr a n e a n If it were possible to gaze into a mirror on the past, the shimmering waters of the Mediterranean would be the perfect place to start. Surrounded by three continents, this storied sea has a history as rich and deep as its indigo waters. Phoenician ships sailed it as early as 2500 B.C. in search of exotic perfumes and spices to trade. The early Greeks passed through on their way west to more fertile lands and a prosperous new life. Today, the winds that blow across this spellbinding sea can carry you back through history — or into the future. Sail to the legendary coastlines of Sicily and Greece — or be part of the chic new yachting scene along the shores of Croatia. You can relax in secluded bliss on the islands of Corsica, Palma and trendy Sardinia. Or sail south from celebrated Lisbon to discover charming Cádiz, admire contemporary Valencia, or get caught up in the energy of wildly eccentric Barcelona. Rediscover the past or rewrite your own history. Here in the Mediterranean, it is possible to do both.

I ta ly The mere mention of Italy sends the mind into a flurry of delicious images. Elaborately carved gondolas navigating the famous canals of Venice. Hollywood legends vacationing on the isle of Capri. Ferrari-fueled drives along the French Riviera and Amalfi coast. Windstar’s Italy takes you to places known only to the locals. From healing spas on the island of Ischia to the stunning gold-sand beaches of Lipari and emerald-shaded fjord outside Kotor. Regardless of how chic and sophisticated the region is today, you are never far from its sublimely intriguing past. A Greek amphitheater outside Messina reveals venerable Mt. Etna smoking in the distance. Seventeenth century manors celebrate the spoils of Montenegro’s early maritime dominance. The Forum and Coliseum stand in tribute to the former glory of Rome — while Monaco’s Old Town retains much of its more recent fairytale charm. The dramatic landscapes of Stromboli and ancient Pompeii. The medieval charm of lovely Dubrovnik. Sailing into the sunsethued harbor of beautiful Portofino. No matter where you look, Italy rewards you with an image of absolute perfection.

Greek isles & Tur key Travelers have always been drawn to the lyrical shores of the Greek Isles and the Turkish seaside. Ruins from the golden age of Greek civilization remain scattered throughout Santorini, Rhodes and Ephesus. Vestiges of Ottoman glory can be found from the famous Blue Mosque of Istanbul to the ink-black Turkish coffee in a Bodrum taverna. The majestic Parthenon and Acropolis, remnants of the dazzling temple to the goddess Athena, still tower over cosmopolitan Athens. To discover these mythical lands the way early travelers did, by sea, is nothing short of extraordinary. Sail along shores that are as beautiful and untouched as they were centuries ago. At Kusadasi, the gateway port to the 3,000 year-old city of Ephesus, the ruins of the Library of Celsus and Temple of Artemis remain spellbinding to this day. Sample delectable fresh seafood from one of the many seaside restaurants throughout gorgeous Mykonos, then toast another perfect Aegean day from high atop the island of Santorini. In these exquisite waters, and on this exquisite vessel, you feel a traveler’s longing for adventure that is as old as time itself.

Va lua b l e s/ I m p o rt R e s t r i c t i o n s Each stateroom is equipped with a built-in safe for storing valuables and important documents. In order to avoid problems when reentering the United States, we strongly recommend that U.S. residents register their valuables with U.S. Customs before departure. You must do this at a Customs office near your home. Items that should be registered generally include those not manufactured in the U.S. Customs pays particular attention to cameras (including special lenses and video equipment), binoculars, radios and foreignmade watches and appliances. Please pay particular attention to the import of animal by-products (such as furs, belts and shoes). A complete list of banned imports is available from U.S. Customs.

Wat e r s p o rt s P l at f o r m The Watersports platform is only open while at anchor and its use is subject to weather conditions, location restrictions and participation waiver. The Watersports platform is not open when the yacht is docked. Mediterranean and Baltic voyages offer limited water sports activities.

W h at to Pa c k The less you bring, the better. We suggest clothes that are light, cool and made of natural fabrics like cotton and silk. You may wish to bring warmer clothing (layers are best) if you are traveling on a Transatlantic, Baltic or autumn Mediterranean cruise. The tone for dinner and evening onboard is imaginative, yet relaxed. Stylish, yet comfortable. For ladies, sundresses, slacks and informal evening wear are just right. For gentlemen, we suggest slacks and collared shirts or polos. There are no formal nights, no costume parties, no requirements for suits and ties. (However, if your cruise takes you to Monte Carlo, please note that many casinos require men to wear both a jacket and tie.) Our only request is that shorts, jeans, hats and T-shirts not be worn in The Restaurant, Degrees or public rooms during the evening. Country Club casual is acceptable for Le MarchĂŠ and Candles Grill.

T h e S a i l i n g Ya c h t s o f W i n d s ta r Our three sleek sailing yachts are like nothing else at sea. Even in the most prestigious yachtfilled harbors, your Windstar yacht is easy to recognize. Just look for the elegant vessel with the brilliant white sails stretching toward the Wind Spirit

sky. All three Windstar yachts feature expansive teak decks, which is quite unusual for smaller ships. And unlike other ships of comparable size, our sailing yachts offer plenty of hidden nooks and quiet spaces to call your own. With so few guests, it’s easy to get to know your fellow sailors. Just as you would on your own luxury yacht.

The largest sailing yacht in the world, Wind Surf is a sleek, 5-masted sailing vessel that represents the ultimate in Windstar luxury sailing. Sailing with 312 guests, it offers 31 ocean-view suites with his-and-her bathrooms, two bridge suites and 123 deluxe ocean-view staterooms. There are several dining spots to choose from on Wind Surf. The reservations-only Degrees features a menu reflecting the fresh, seasonal preparations that are synonymous with Mediterranean cooking. The Restaurant offers gourmet, course-by-course cuisine in the evenings. And The Veranda offers casual dining for breakfast and lunch. For dining under the stars, two alfresco deckside eateries include Candles Grill for steaks and skewers and Le Marché for fresh seafood. Wind Surf has the most elaborate fitness room and spa in the Windstar fleet, outclassing most facilities on similar-size yachts. Additional amenities include the Casino, Lounge, pool, Watersports platform, and two whirlpools. The comfortably appointed Yacht Club is Wind Surf’s “living room” and library. It’s a perfect place to read, catch up on news, browse the Internet or enjoy a good conversation with friends.

Entertainment On Windstar, you can skip the flash and formality of other luxury cruise ships. Leave the jacket and tie at home if you want. Life onboard is a little more relaxed, a little more yachtsman-like. Unwind from a day on shore with a glass of wine and live music in the Lounge. We occasionally invite local performers onboard to bring you even closer to the unique cultures and entertainment of the region. Or spend an evening with Lady Luck as you try your hand at blackjack or roulette in the Casino. It won't be long before you discover the enchantment of an evening under sail on Windstar. Toast the end of another perfect day under billowing white sails and starlit skies. Or find a private spot on the expansive teak deck to connect with new friends. On one magical evening you’ll experience one of the greatest parties you’ll find at sea as our crew showcases their unique culinary and dance talents at our famous deck barbecue. On Windstar, we’re all about showing you a good time.

Env i ron m e nt Wa s t e R e d u c t i o n Appropriate quantities of food and supplies are ordered for each cruise. Our crews are offered incentives for new and innovative ideas that aid in the reduction of waste.

F u e l C o n s e rvat i o n and Reduced Emissions Fuel consumption is minimized through increased use of the yachts’ sails and through itinerary revision. The yachts burn a low-sulfur fuel that reduces harmful emissions to the atmosphere. Through conservation and safety efforts, we are working to ensure that while our guests enjoy the luxury and comfort of their stay with us, we do our part to preserve the environment.

E n v i ro n m e n ta l M a n ag e m e n t S y s t e m s Windstar is in the process of developing an environmental management system (EMS) that will be certified to the ISO 14001 international EMS standard. Achieving this certification will ensure that Windstar not only meets, but exceeds, environmental regulations and best management practices.

Ec o m e t r i x T r a c k i n g S y s t e m s Through our parent company, Xanterra Parks & Resorts, Windstar employs detailed “Ecometrix” environmental performance metrics and tracking systems that monitor all of our waste generation, fossil fuel consumption, carbon emissions, water usage, recycling, and other resource usage.

“The cruise was fantastic. I have never done a small ship cruise before and found it totally relaxing, the itinerary was fabulous and the food was amazing! The captain was the captain on our last cruise, so it was nice to meet him again. The crew is a credit to Wind Star — very good and always smiling. Once again, many thanks for the chance to sail on such a

S a i l i n g away w i t h to p h o n o r s Once again, Windstar is pleased — okay, thrilled — to be honored by some of the most notable names in the travel industry. In 2011, we were selected as one of “The World’s Best Cruise Lines” by Condé Nast Traveler on their 16th Annual Gold List. All three of our sailing yachts were included on the magazine's “Best Small Ships” list. Windstar was also selected for the fifth consecutive year in 2011 as the Best Small/Midsize Cruise Line by the discerning readers of Celebrated Living, American Airline’s publication for first class passengers. In addition, Windstar earned top honors in the Travel + Leisure “World’s Best Awards 2011” — and was voted “Most Romantic Cruise Line” by Porthole Magazine for the sixth time in a row. As proud as we are to be honored by the critics, we’re even prouder to be held in high regard by the guests who sail with Windstar, year after year.
