RETROFITTING FOR GROUP HOUSING VENNICE ANGELLA L AC16UAR113
ABSTRACT
The refurbishment of existing building allows remarkable improvements in performance even through mature and offtheshelf technologies.
Retrofitting is the process of changing technology or adding entities to the building that ultimately result in the addition of strength of the existing structure without its demolition.
With better understanding of seismic design on structures and on the crucial experiences from the recent large earthquakes, the need of retrofitting is in high demand. Housing is responsible for around 27% of the carbon emissions, so buildings of all ages and styles have a part to play in terms of energy efficiency. Making a building more sustainable while completing the retrofit could attract more higher-paying tenants, which would cause a greater appreciation by the time the owners plan to sell.
There is a Distinction Between Retrofit and Renovation Marion Baeli, defines renovation as being smartening things up to make them look
good and dealing with the top 3mm of construction. Retrofit on the other hand is about getting under the skin of things and sorting them out at a fundamental, architectural and building physics level.
