On the Right Foot
Thursday’s win gave the Jets a victory to open the season for the sixth time in the past eight seasons…It was the second time the Jets won their first game of a campaign in overtime (Oct. 13/16 vs. CAR 5-4 OTW)… The Jets haven’t won consecutive games to start the season since the 2015-16 season when they started the season with road wins against the Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils…The Jets franchise has started a season with back-to-back wins in four of their first 20 seasons.
Hit the Road
The Jets play their first three road games of the season this week, beginning Monday in Toronto…They are the only three road games in the Jets first 11 games, as Winnipeg returns to Bell MTS Place for a season high seven-game homestand…The Jets were 17-14-3 on the road last season.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Sheldon Keefe Sheldon Keefe was named the 31st head coach in Maple Leafs history on November 20, 2019. Prior to being named head coach, Keefe served as head coach of the Toronto Marlies (AHL) for the past five seasons. In 319 regular season games, Keefe led the Marlies to a 199-89-22-9 record and won the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the AHL’s top team in the regular season on two occasions. He led the Marlies to a 38-21 record in four post-season appearances, including the franchise’s first Calder Cup championship in 2018. Keefe joined the Marlies after a three-year stint as head coach for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. In two seasons with the Greyhounds, the club posted a regular season record of 98-29-2-7 while reaching the second round (2013-14) and third round (2014-15) of the playoffs. Under Maurice, the Jets have gone 273-190-54, for a .580 points percentage. He has the most wins by a head coach in franchise history. Maurice became the second-youngest NHL coach to earn 500 wins after a 8-2 victory over Florida on January 13, 2015.
