The Winnipeg Jets announced on Saturday they acquired forward Pierre-Luc Dubois and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft in exchange for forwards Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic…Dubois, 22, has played five games for Columbus in 2020-21 and recorded a goal and two penalty minutes…The native of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Que. led the Blue Jackets in points (49) and assists (31) in 2019-20 before recording a team-high four goals, six assists, and 10 points in 10 Stanley Cup playoff games…Dubois, the third overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft who entered the NHL in 2017-18, has played 239 games and recorded 159 points (66G, 93A), along with 164 PIMs…He added another 19 points (8G, 11A) in 26 playoff games…Dubois, the son of Manitoba Moose assistant coach Eric Dubois, played 164 games over three seasons in the QMJHL with Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, recording 199 points (73G, 126A) and 248 PIMs…He added 39 points in 38 playoff games, highlighted by a trip to the QMJHL finals with the Armada in 2016-17.

500 Helpers

Captain Blake Wheeler set up Kyle Connor’s second period goal on Saturday to reach 500 assists for his NHL career…Wheeler became the 18th active NHL player to reach 500 career assists…He holds the franchise record with 442 assists and is the only player in franchise history to reach 400 assists with the club… Since the 2016-17 season, Wheeler ranks third in the NHL with 235 assists.

Helle Vezina

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck won the NHL’s Vezina Trophy last season as the league’s top goaltender…He led all goaltenders in games (t-58), shots faced (1,796), saves (1,656), and shutouts (6)…The Commerce, Michigan native ranked second overall in starts (56), wins (31), and minutes (3,268:33). Hellebuyck recorded 31 of the 37 Jets wins (83.8%), the second-highest percentage among goaltenders on the 24 teams set to resume play…Hellebuyck faced 37-or-more shots on 13 occasions and posted a 10-1-2 record, 2.08 goals-against average, and a .949 save percentage in those contests, which included a career-high 51 saves in a 3-2 win at San Jose on Nov. 1/19 where he set the franchise record for saves in a period with 27 in the second frame…He’s the first goaltender in franchise history to win the award.

Winnipeg Jets: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Paul Maurice Paul Maurice, 52, is in his seventh season as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets after being appointed to the position on January 12, 2014. Under Maurice, the Jets have gone 276-192-54, for a .581 points percentage. He has the most wins by a head coach in franchise history. Maurice became the second-youngest NHL coach to earn 500 wins after a 8-2 victory over Florida on January 13, 2015. He became the youngest head coach to reach 1,500 games on Feb. 5, 2019 in a 3-2 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks. Maurice won his 700th game October 20, 2019 vs. Edmonton (1-0 SOW). Maurice, who coached in his 1,600th NHL game on Mar. 11, 2020 against Edmonton, has earned a career NHL coaching record of 736-648-221 in 22 seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Jets. Edmonton Oilers: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Dave Tippett Dave Tippett, 59, became the Oilers 16th head coach all-time on May 28, 2019. Tippett enters his second season as the Oilers head coach. In his first season as Oilers head coach, Tippett led the team to an 83-point season and a 37-25-9 record, finishing second in the Pacific Divison. Tippett was instrumental in helping the Oilers qualify for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, for the first time since 2016-17. Prior to joining the Oilers, Tippett was a head coach in the NHL for 15 seasons (2002-2017), with Dallas and Phoenix/Arizona, posting a career record of 553-413-28-102 in 1,114 games, for a 0.563 winning percentage. He also served as an assistant coach in Los Angeles from 1999-2002. In 2018-19, Tippett served as a senior advisor for the Seattle Kraken.
