Winnipeg Jets: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Paul Maurice Paul Maurice, 54, is in his seventh season as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets after being appointed to the position on January 12, 2014. Under Maurice, the Jets have gone 301-213-57, for a .578 points percentage. He has the most wins by a head coach in franchise history. Maurice became the second-youngest NHL coach to earn 500 wins after a 8-2 victory over Florida on January 13, 2015. He became the youngest head coach to reach 1,500 games on Feb. 5, 2019 in a 3-2 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks. Maurice won his 700th game October 20, 2019 vs. Edmonton (1-0 SOW). CAPTAIN CONNOR – ART ROSS MCDAVID Connor McDavid captured his third Art Ross Trophy, winning the NHL in scoring title with 105 points (33G, 72A) in 56 games, 21 points ahead of second place Leon Draisaitl. He posted four points (1G, 3A) on May 8 vs. VAN to reach the 100 point milestone for the fourth time in his career and became the fastest player to reach the 100 point mark since 1995-96. He is the 9th player in NHL history and first in his lifetime to reach the 100 point mark in 53 games or fewer. McDavid factored in on over half of all Oilers goals during the 2020-21 season, recording 105 points on 183 team goals (57.4%). That is the highest percentage in the NHL of team goals involved in this season. McDavid posted his 5th straight 30+ goal season with two goals on May 3 at VAN. He became the 3rd player in NHL history to record 30 goals and 60 assists in 50 games or fewer. The only other two players to hit the mark were: Wayne Gretzky – 9x (last in 1990 w/ LAK) Mario Lemieux – 5x (last 1995 w/ PIT) McDavid posted points against each divisional Canadian team this season, including a season high 22 points in nine games against Winnipeg. Smith has posted a 21-6-2 record while recording a .923 save percentage and 2.31 GAA with three shutouts in 32 games this season. Mike Smith logged a shutout streak of 95:06 (Apr. 17-26) against the Jets before surrendering the lone goal allowed in two games against Winnipeg. Smith posted his third shutout of the season on Apr. 17 in Winnipeg. The shutout marked his 41st of his career and third of the season, which have all come by scores of 3-0.
SCORING FROM THE BLUELINE Tyson Barrie (8G, 40A) finished the 2020-21 regular season as the leading scorer among NHL defencemen, with 48 points and finished 2nd in assists (40) just two off the league lead. Darnell Nurse finished the 2020-21 season 2nd among NHL defencemen with 16 goals. Darnell Nurse is tied for 7th in defencemen scoring (36 PTS) and ranked 3rd among NHL defencemen in plus/minus +27.

Edmonton Oilers: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Dave Tippett Dave Tippett, 59, became the Oilers 16th head coach all-time on May 28, 2019. Tippett enters his second season as the Oilers head coach. In his first season as Oilers head coach, Tippett led the team to an 83-point season and a 37-25-9 record, finishing second in the Pacific Divison. Tippett was instrumental in helping the Oilers qualify for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, for the first time since 2016-17. Prior to joining the Oilers, Tippett was a head coach in the NHL for 15 seasons (2002-2017), with Dallas and Phoenix/Arizona, posting a career record of 553-413-28-102 in 1,114 games, for a 0.563 winning percentage. He also served as an assistant coach in Los Angeles from 1999-2002. In 2018-19, Tippett served as a senior advisor for the Seattle Kraken.
