GOALTENDER DEVELOPMENT WE BUILD GOALTENDERS We educate goaltenders in the modern style of goaltending development through the breakdown of science. The Ice Lab will use its innovative, industry-leading technology to break down the biomechanics of goaltenders. We aim to maximize individual speed relative to the velocity of the puck and provide instruction that will assist in understanding the tactics in today’s game.
FORMERLY KNOWN AS
Great goaltending does not end with skill and technique. We want our goalies to understand the tactical side of goaltending (positioning, awareness and proximity to a shooter) and have adequate information through technology and our current innovative tools. Our style of training gives 100% feedback with emphasis on positioning but also placing importance on efficient movement and athleticism.
OUR FACILITY The Ice Lab is the biggest ice surface for goalie training in Manitoba. The Ice Lab is an educational environment, focusing on the breakdown of goaltending movements as well as making learning fun for everyone. The facility is for all ages and will build goalies to greater heights then we have seen in our province. The Ice Lab features a high-definition camera and the latest hockey technology.
ICE LAB FEATURES • 45 feet by 37 feet sheet of ice with boards • Four full sized goalie creases • Male and Female change rooms • A commercial sized camera (used to televise NHL games) that transmits to a 63 inch monitor screen • Immediate 360 degree Video feedback for teaching opportunities
ICE LAB RENTALS Inquire about availability for renting the Ice Lab for parties or 2 on 2 hockey.
GOALTENDING LESSONS
BIG ICE
All lessons are 50 minute sessions focusing on various goalie skill components.
Big Ice entails a structured fun learning environment where goaltender coaches will provide feedback and teach goalies to become more efficient in their movements. We will emphasize the tactics behind what players do and teach goalies how to be positional (angles and depths) in game simulated drills. Full ice has a 2:1 work rest ratio.
As mastery of a skill is achieved a drill with greater complexity is added to progress development through repetition and instruction. All lessons will be tailored to each individual goaltender’s level. The Ice Lab is a semiprivate lesson facility. Our staff will pair goalies together based on age and ability level. If no pairing occurs, the goalie will do a private session at the Semi private pricing rate. All lessons feature video feedback through our HD Video camera and our big screen TV.
